With Playful your new app literally materializes right before your eyes thanks to some @steeevg magic.
Exciting news! @playfulsoftware launches today!
We've been building this for a little while now, and I'm excited I can start sharing some of the cool little animations and touches that the app has all over.
See the thread for a link to try it out!
Come try Playful! You'll be amazed at how easy (and fun!) it is to make apps tailored to your needs. @mikehar and I and our team have been cooking it for years. Now it's ready for you.

Apps have always been made by strangers. Until now.
Playful is a place to make apps for your unique life. Recreate Grandma’s recipes, start a fitness challenge with a friend, or make something for your neighborhood. No coding required.
We call it homemade software. What will you make? Playful.app

We added two sentences to Claude Code's prompt on Opus 5.5 to steer it away from recreating someone else's specific game because using Claude to infringe IP is against our usage policy.
Original games, genre games, and games built from your own designs and assets are meant to keep working.
We'll continue to iterate to ensure we're striking the right balance. In the meantime, if Claude turns down something that's yours, send it my way.

Funding rounds aren't milestones. It shouldn't be your goal to raise a series A. It should be your goal not to need to.
The Fifth Element had the best flying cars. I've always wanted to cruise around its vision of New York City in 2263. Made with @threejs. Playable link: iris1.ai/a/nyc-2263

Building pdf -> JSON parsing for Polotno SDK.
Found the case when 22mb PDF parsing took 18GB of RAM. Good it is fixable.
Techcrunch gets it. There is so much unfulfilled demand for personal software that people can finally start to satisfy for themselves. Making it easier to create an app than it is to make a spreadsheet is the key. techcrunch.com/2026/01/16/th…
Yes, changed forever. “But what was the fire inside you, when you coded till night to see your project working? It was building.” Now everyone can build.

"We’re entering an era of personal, disposable software."
This is fantastic for most people but what happens to software engineers when people can make their own software? @codestirring argues engineers become more valuable, not less.

Sooner than you think, the same prompt will deliver an experience like this, in the form of an app you don't have to regenerate every time you need it.
Claude Cowork renaming photos to describe their contents in real-time. 2 minutes prompt-to-finish. How long would that have taken me?
"make a copy of the God's Pocket directory, look at each photo in it, and change their filenames to describe the photo"
Love seeing the power of creating software on demand making its way to non-coders. Artifacts still have a ways to go to be useful as apps but for ad-hoc jobs Cowork, even in this early state, is tremendous.

At some point you will get an urge to vibe code an app. It’s very important that you listen to that urge and just get started.
I love @outofdesk's take on personal software, "perfect software". It's perfect because it's made for your need. No more, no less. It serves no agenda other than your own.
At some point it will be mundane but at the beginning it's liberating, exciting!

The best way to predict the future is to create it. That's how we at @playfulsoftware know 2026 will be The Year of Personal Software!
