When I was writing Unreal Engine 1, my time was divided as follows: - Around 30% went to seriously deep coding on hard problems: assembly language texture mappers, C++ BSP trees, data persistence, object oriented systems design, and networking. - Around 70% was just typing and refactoring large bodies of code needed for a complete engine feature set. This was not hard, and while I was doing it my mind was mostly on the deeper coding topics, thinking and planning for what's next. It didn't feel much different from vibe coding today, except that it was just me typing code on an IBM Model M keyboard rather than prompting it and reviewing the results. So, it has always seemed perfectly logical that we would rely on AI for that 70%, once the AI could do it with a similar quality standard as we could, which has never been perfection. It came as no surprise that, after a few years of AI model evolution, it was able to take the reigns on that 70% and free up programmers' time for more valuable tasks. What's more of a surprise is the emergence of AI as a sort of insta-Carmack able to solve hard technical problems quite cleverly and often cleanly, and that it's able to reason about and work in complex 3D scenes both by operating the tools and by directly understanding the raw data files. I abandoned assembly language in 1998 when out-of-order CPUs made much simpler C/C++ code faster, and never I missed it. If prompting through architectural documents, concept art, and design plans can transcend typing code and tweaking vertices, that will enable developers to spend their time on higher-level, higher value technical and creative tasks. What matters is the end product, whether it's a game or an engine. Anything developers can do to try out more ideas and make better software and games faster is a win for everyone.

I’ve been thinking about @davemorin’s observation a lot this weekend. Since we launched @itsdazzleai, I’ve been making the case that your camera roll is a better basis for personal assistant work than email is. While getting access to both email and photos would be great, if I get one, I want photos. Part of it is that we can get a sense of your taste and part of it is that *you* decide what you take pictures of so you decide what’s in your camera roll. It’s *your* to-do list, not someone else’s for you. Dazzle puts you in charge and lets us anticipate what you need and what you like. Try it at dazzle.ai/app
There's an insidious new type of slop happening at work. Email used to just be other people's todo list for your life. Now the people you work with are driven by their AI agents, which often lack the context to know what matters for them, let alone for you. So they ask you for things as if they were priorities. It feels off because it is: Email is now other people's agent's todo list for your life. This is going to take some work to fix.

The voices in your head are layered thick upon your consciousness. So will the agents be layered thick upon you. We will need to meditate them all away. The voices, and the agents.

The slop is in the priorities not just the prose.

Sometimes a demo is simply to remind the world that your competition has no desire to dream -- and no ability to evolve.

Life is only short once. Listen to @Keller.
Life is short. Skeptics are probably right more often than they are wrong, but they also don't go on epic adventures or get to work on projects that move humanity forward. Ignore the skeptics and build the future!

Hardware has always been “open source,” at least mechanically. When we built the first June Oven, we bought ovens and ripped them apart to see how they worked. Now, with Reverse Engineer Anything and LLMs, you can do the same with software.

the best open source software for agents is the one that is the most remixable @openclaw achieves this through our plugin ecosystem - we aim to make the harness maximally pluggable. think you have a better idea for how memory should work? build a plugin! dont like how we assemble context? build a plugin!

Our approval is subject to working through the evaluation process with @ICANN over the next 9-12 months. We are looking forward to this and intend to be good stewards.

.claw is now a thing. Always wanted to make a TLD happen on the list of life goals. 🦞
.Claw cometh! The winning applicant for .claw top level domain in ICANN’s 2026 round: the OpenClaw Foundation. Huge step in giving our agents a natural home presence. Congratulations to @davemorin @steipete and the @openclaw team. Looking forward to great things crawling 🦞 across the web soon.
