My hopes for the upcoming Congress are that: * We begin addressing structural weaknesses that allowed a felon to be on the Presidential Ballot. * Age limits for every US elected/nominated position. A candidate must be no older than 70 on the last day of the term they're running for, including the SCOTUS. * Consider a constitutional amendment to move the Dept. of Justice out of the influence of the President. We can't have the DOJ weaponized again. * Eliminate the ability of wealthy citizens and corporations to influence our politics. (i.e., overturn Citizens United, stronger lobbying, and PAC rules). * Limit a President's ability to drag us into wars without consent. * Limit a President from firing Military officers without consent from Congress. * Create some sort of basic requirements so that no one like Hegseth can ever be put in charge of any department, much less the military ever again. * Controls on mass pardons (i.e., Jan. 6th terrorists). * All law enforcement should have to have their face and badge/identification visible when making arrests.

This one's important, so it deserves its own post... Ban equity trading for federal and state executives, Legislators, judges, and their staff. They should be required to put their holdings into a blind trust until they leave government. They should also be required to take and pass the citizenship test that new US citizens must take. They shouldn't be sworn in until they pass the test.
