Fieldwatch 1.1.32 – 1.1.34 have seen a number of improvements! The big one adds known cameras to the picture. Live detections show what your handset can hear right now: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, trackers, Remote ID, and the signatures you’ve tuned. Known surveillance sits right beside it — plate readers, Flock and the other LPRs, speed cameras, red lights, and more fixed cameras that were already there before you rolled up. To see them, go to Settings → Locations and Maps and load in known cameras. Once they’re on the handset, they show up on the same live map, the same drive line, and the same sit. No more bouncing between apps to see what’s broadcasting and what’s already know. Radio alerts still drop on the path as you move. Known cameras sit on that same path — view cones when the list knows which way they face, simple marks when they don’t. Voice can call one out while it’s still about half a kilometer ahead, so you know what’s coming before you’re under it. When the sit closes, the report counts the known cameras on the path too. Hunt continues to get serious attention. It now leans on steps sensor when the phone has it, falls back to the accelerometer when it doesn’t, and keeps the walk going even when GPS never locks. Hold it flat in front of you for best results. The heat cloud stays honest: blue where it’s weak, red where it’s loud. The loudest place you stood gets the mark, and it keeps following you even after the signal drops. There have been a lot of enhancements to the map on both the live list and in reports — from smoother tracking to better caching. The reports path is now dynamic, so you can pinch, drag, and zoom into a stretch, or split clusters into the real spots. Alert dots and known cameras sit on the drive line. Live path and Hunt pull map tiles ahead of you and keep a fat cache on the phone. USGS Imagery Topo and FAA VFR Sectional are in the mix, with optional relief and hydro overlays. Thicker drive line, cameras that stay readable, plate-reader alerts that name the company. Still no account to setup. No Fieldwatch server. No ads. Passive listen plus the known-camera layer you choose to keep on the handset. github.com/OffGridPete/Field…

We remember Tom Skerritt, who has died at 93. As Commander Mike “Viper” Metcalf in Top Gun (1986), he brought quiet authority and humanity to an enduring portrayal of naval aviation. He later returned to a naval role as Captain Bill Rhodes in Tears of the Sun (2003). An Air Force veteran, Skerritt’s commitment to those who served extended beyond the screen. He co-founded the Red Badge Project, helping veterans find their voices and share their experiences through storytelling. Our condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
