Hi! My name is David. I’m my local community’s shameless deviant. I’m a jobbing artist and aspiring writer. I love horror films, comic books, and wildlife.
Nakakatawa talaga.😂The privilege is privileging.
So much work goes into joining art markets, and this is what artists get?
Can’t artists be in a state of play? Are we not allowing artists room to grow?
Talk to them. Explore their creative identities. What’re their works that stand out as unique? Ask about their process. Commission them, for fuck’s sake!
Replying to @daxramires
I do know that my drive to simply survive by selling my art overrides any self doubt. I tell myself this every time I’m buying my flight tickets, booking for my hotels, restocking my prints and paying obscene amount of registration fees
Throwing criticisms about artists at MANILA cons this way could also discourage creators based in further regions from seeking community at venues like K0m1k3t. It could stifle their initiative to explore and experiment in the market CONVENIENTLY like we can.
To my point - Yes, @daxramires, you absolutely have a place in the community.🖤
Artists have every right to create what they wanna create, reproduce their work, and discover the markets that can host them.
Isn’t that how uniqueness is formed, in practice and exploration?
calling horror is a “lowbrow genre” is actually insane behavior. most horror films are deep explorations of the director’s thoughts and fears towards very real topics like abuse and mental health and discrediting the entire genre because you don’t like to be uncomfortable is just gross. horror movies are essential to understanding human behavior and artistic expression.

It is always beautiful to see protests of ordinary people in BGC because it disrupts the disneyland and "Singapore-like" image that its land developers want to sustain to keep land value high and the upper middle and upper classes insulated.

This is the best way to honor their memories: ART. They were ARTISTS during their lifetimes. Stop using AI to pay tribute to artists. No one is going to be remembered for making AI slop, so stop disrespecting the legacies of these artists with it.
