The parking lot of this appliance store in Long Island City, Queens was purchased for $53 million, or $444,000 per parking space. It will become a 26 story building with 560 housing units, of which 25% will be affordable. The opportunity cost of surface parking is insane.

David Graeber's Debt: The First 5,000 Years is a better contribution to our understanding of money, and debt than anything Carl Menger wrote. I understand this is deeply upsetting to Austrian Economists, but anthropology doesn't give a fuck about your origin myths.

I’ve filled out my ballot and dropped it off at a designated ballot drop box. I voted NO on both constitutional amendment A and B… and I voted @BenMcAdamsUT, of course. You need to vote. Not voting is unacceptable when our democracy is burning down around us.

If someone is merely careless, their errors will have a randomness to them, but Aaron Davidson's many "errors" as Utah County Clerk all magically work to suppress mail-in voting. sltrib.com/news/politics/202…

This was intentional. And if it wasn’t, it should still be treated as intentional. No matter how hard they try, there will be folks who don’t vote because of this. Disenfranchisement is serious shit.
My apologies to state capitol building visitors for the farm words echoing through the halls this morning. Apparently, you happened to be in the corridors when @LGHendersonUtah learned that Utah County Clerk @ARDavidson fudged things up. Again. sltrib.com/news/politics/202…

It's weird to me that Catholicism is essentially the only expression of Christianity that does its absolute best to offer DAILY corporate worship. And this isn't something that exists only at Monasteries or in major cities, even surprisingly small towns have daily Mass. Even where daily Mass isn't available, that is only owing to a lack of Priests. If the Church could do so, it would offer Mass 365 days/year at every single Parish Church on earth, and all Priests teach that while daily Mass is not required, it's an immensely valuable and desirable spiritual practice for all Christians. I contend that if an alien arrived on earth on a mission to learn about Christianity, this would be one of the first things they'd notice. Like "why are half of all Christian Churches closed 6 days a week, but the other half hold worship every single day?" Then again, it makes sense. It all comes down to how you define "worship." If "worship" means singing songs and reading the Bible, that's one thing. If "worship" means offering a sacrifice, that's another. And of course, at the old temples in the Old Testament, they were offering sacrifices daily, so it's only natural we'd continue re-presenting the most perfect Sacrifice ever made. I am SO thankful for the daily Mass. I truly do not know where I'd be without it; I thank God that His Church unfailingly strives to keep the doors of its Parishes open as often as they humanly can!
