Seriously why is anyone on this platform still?

TIL how the apple logo was created.

I’m honestly ready to create an alternative to REST. Call it SAPI. Stupid/Sufficient/Simple APIs. It’s close to REST but acknowledges the lost battles.

Seriously just stop using PUT and PATCH, y’all are making a mockery of their beauty. It’s hurtful.

Status codes are ONLY 200, 400, 500 unless you *specifically* know it’s a particular one.

I would make it my life's work to rebuild a social media platform, but better, open source, and accessible, under the banner of NPR. What's more, I know how to. If anyone has any connections there, please get me in touch.

ANNOUNCEMENT: As part of our compliance procedures we need everyone to have two people blindly approve all pull-requests. It's unnecessary, actually it would be inefficient, for them to understand the changes.

We just need them to press approve so that your deployment to the QA environment must take many hours or, and this really makes us security directors horny, it might even block your small change until the next day.

We need a kind of volleyball, with like random obstacles all around.

What the hell does an "engineering first" company culture even mean?

I'm just here for the train wreck at this point.

I’m probably going to abandon this platform once musk takes it over. Where are people going to go?

Or maybe people have different ways they work. So what.
TIL that (some) developers sit around and do nothing while waiting for their code review to avoid “context switching” 🫣

This is correct but might need to add some incidents of existential crisis.

This was my biggest criticism of The Queen’s Gambit. Literally only one dude got upset that he was beaten by a woman. Naw, she would have been battling a constant stream of sore losers that would have done real work to exclude her.
The fact that CHESS is divided into gendered leagues should tell you something about the real history and reasons behind the gender division of sports. Men are scared of being made to look inferior to women.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
“The majority of chess tournaments are open to all participants regardless of gender.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_…
