imo the issue isn’t that alien stage is a ship-based show, but that people view it with the idea that the characters are an extension to the ships rather than the ships are an extension to the characters
what I mean exactly is that people see the relationships as the defining feature behind the cast’s actions and traits and not their individual experiences in an abusive environment as the true motivation behind their ships
