As Dr. King said, the time is always right to do right and that all it takes for evil to prevail is for good-natured and good-willed people to do nothing. This must be fought. There is strength in numbers. Let’s GO! #fame22 @FloridaMediaEd #floridamediaed

“I’m afraid too….” But @Boss_Librarian reminds us today at #SLJSummit that not standing up for books and kids is wrong. We must be truth tellers

HB 1467 was received favorably in the house and it’s on its way to the Senate floor. While FAME supports many sections of this bill, we STRONGLY OPPOSE a list of banned books reported by district. This sets a dangerous precedent. #fame2022 #floridalibraries #fame22

I am honored to serve on this committee, although I of course wish the district’s procedures had been allowed to proceed. Choice for EVERY parent and student is vital and I look forward to representing ⁦@FloridaMediaEd⁩ theledger.com/story/news/edu…
Polk book review panelists are chosen. Will have 3 months to determine fate of 16 books

The 34 adults and 15 students will have three months to review the books that have been challenged by a conservative group as pornographic.

Unfortunately, the @FLSenateGOP @FLSenate sponsor of #HB1467 is incorrect. Currently, there is not a certified media specialist at every school in Florida. Hopefully, this bill will change that. @FloridaMediaEd #Freadom

As I listen to @FLSenate debate/discuss #HB1467, it's important to remember that what is taught in the classroom is different from what is available for FREE CHOICE reading in a school library. #FReadom is important for all schools & families in Florida.

This was hanging in my office when I became a school librarian in 2004. Seems like we could all still use it. #FReadom

FYI: Muting unhealthy conversations and blocking people who cause harm or anxiety is a form of self care. Having a presence #onhere doesn’t obligate you to engage w/anyone. PS: this is not a subtweet.

Hey #aasl family! As you wrap up today remember: 1) there’s strength in numbers 2) their ignorance isn’t as valuable as your knowledge, 3) silence is compliance, and 4) you’ll win if you don’t give in. There’s NO community like yours. Success is better together! #AASL2021 #aasl21
