Great trip to Kyoto for the AACR-JCA meeting. Wonderful to see old friends and make new ones. Thank you to @AACR and outgoing AACR president @lillian_siu for the invitation to speak on our work advancing liquid biopsy - and the late night yakitori, chicken hearts, liver and all.
Congrats Linghua!

great work Dan! Huge congrats!
A whole genome sequencing assay named HPV-DeepSeek sniffs out signs of residual disease after surgery in patients with #HPV+ head and neck cancer, and detects recurrence earlier than digital PCR and standard clinical criteria. @FadenLab @BIDharvardOHNS scim.ag/3S52VLF
Thank you!
Congrats to Dr. Dechen Lin on his promotion to Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences at @ostrowusc.
A leader in cancer genomics & epigenomics, his work uses advanced genomics and organoid models to uncover how cancers progress, evade immunity, and respond to therapy.
Congratulations Linghua!!!

🔬 New in JEM: Our team uncovered that early MLL3 mutations fuel UASCC growth—but also boost immune response when intact. High MLL3 = better immunotherapy outcomes. A new path for treatment. see below👇👇👇
Upper aerodigestive squamous cell carcinoma (UASCC) is a tough cancer to treat because it grows aggressively. Published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, USC Norris member Dr. Dechen Lin, assistant professor for the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, and his colleagues, revealed that the gene MLL3 plays a key role in how upper aerodigestive squamous cell carcinoma begins, grows, and responds to treatment. The data revealed that MLL3 mutations occur early and can drive cancer development. MLL3 teams up with GRHL2 to help the immune system fight tumors, and higher MLL3 levels = better response to immunotherapy. These insights open the door to new treatment strategies, giving patients more ways to fight back. Read the full publication here: rupress.org/jem/article-abst….
Congrats Ryan!!
Excited to share our study led by fellow Lawrence Wu, focusing on the molecular characterization of early-onset esophagogastric cancer. We explore transcriptional profiles, immune microenvironment, and real-world survival outcomes.

A new liquid biopsy blood test could help detect cases of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated head and neck cancers. The test has the potential to be significantly more accurate than current methods, including before symptoms develop, according to new Mass General Brigham research led by Daniel Faden, MD, FACS. spklr.io/6019hCvv
