New video from @UncleBo80053383 making NO2. youtu.be/5ks5NC3ddOI?feature… I need to share my own version which uses Mattson NO prep followed by addition of O2 (gives a bonus Avogadro's Law demo) Haven't got around to that because I did Avogadro's Law recently for @RSC_EiC anyway! :)

Our Orbyts team worked super hard in our free time to write our first Impact report based on the last 6 years of programme evaluation, so we're mega excited to share it with you: orbyts.org/impact
We're delighted to present Orbyts' first Impact Report! Over the past six years we have seen Orbyts' transformational impact on young people, researchers and teachers alike and we’re excited to share that with you. Find the 2017-2023 Orbyts Impact Report: orbyts.org/impact

Really enjoyed this. Hadn't appreciated til now that my masters was probably rescued by the 1st issue of @ChemistryWorld . Wasted months on a falling Petasis olefination. Exactly 20 yrs ago with end of tax year approaching someone spotted a "spend it or lose it" money pot.
20 years ago our first issue described how microwave technology was helping chemists uncover cleaner and more efficient reactions. Some in the field expected the evolution that has followed, but others hoped and believed it would amount to more. chemistryworld.com/research/…

"But what should we get?" "I read that microwave reactors are the new thing?" "Add to basket!" "So what do we do with it?" "Let Declan try his olefination? The Ti-Me bond should be particularly sensitive?" Result: went from sludge by heating under N2 for 48 hrs, to ...

Total conversion in 10 mins. 100% stereo- & regioselectivity. Viva was a walk in the park; everyone just wanted to chat about the hot topic instead of picking me apart. I missed the controversy outlined above but I'm firmly on the microwave = magic side! Thanks @ChemistryWorld

4 days ago our team proposed ground-breaking, unique, new planetary observations that cannot be completed by any other spacecraft in existence. That spacecraft is soon to lose funding despite being a fully functional NASA flagship. Please help save @chandraxray

day totally made, thanks for sharing! Yes, we can't see the main potassium emission (youtu.be/TOyDzOc2AaI?si=tC4H…) so our eyes pick up rarer emissions in the visible (also present in Li and Na but drowned out). Seeing proof of this so elegantly demoed with an IR camera is ... superbe!
Replying to @brusicor02

Nice one! I work in the other direction (⚪️➡️🔵) for photo-oxidation of methylene blue with common chemicals and without tin ions. But I am too lazy to write a paper about it. 😅
