II know this might sound a little harsh, but I’m starting to think that Stolas isn’t truly happy, not just because things with Blitzø aren’t exactly how he imagined them, but because of the life he’s living now in general.. Stolas has never really had to worry about money, work, housing or survival because everything was always provided for him. Now that he’s lost his status, powers and home, he’s experiencing Blitzø’s unstable and dangerous reality full-time, and I don’t think he’s truly happy living that way. Even when Millie tells him he’s “one of them,” I think deep down he knows he isn’t. He may care about them, and experiencing their life might help him understand them and imps' life in general much better than he did before, but understanding their world and actually belonging in it are two different things. Blitzø’s life is unstable. His job is dangerous, the income isn’t always guaranteed, and he, Moxxie, and Millie literally risk their lives doing it. There are times when they don’t even get paid. Stolas has never really had to worry about any of that before, and Blitzø can’t realistically be expected to take care of him forever either. Especially when Stolas currently doesn’t seem to have many practical ways of supporting himself! And to me, it genuinely looks like that life is starting to feel too small for him. But I think the same would happen in reverse. Blitzø would be just as lost in Stolas’s world as Stolas is in his. Living among nobles, dealing with constant classism as an imp and basically becoming “Stolas’s partner” while Stolas handles royal duties would probably make Blitzø feel trapped. And while Stolas may have grown since Ozzie’s, if he still has any embarrassment or insecurity about their social differences, constantly seeing nobles judge Blitzø could eventually become a problem again.Blitzø needs his independence. He needs his job, his chaos, his freedom, and something that belongs to him. I can’t imagine him being happy feeling like he’s simply an accessory to Stolas’s life. And Stolas might eventually become afraid of Blitzø continuing such a dangerous job and try to convince him to stop or keep him closer to home. Even if it came from love and fear of losing him, Blitzø would probably eventually feel trapped. Maybe that’s why they worked better when they could be together and then return to their separate lives. Stolas could keep his palace and status, while Blitzø kept his independence, job and freedom. Living together 24/7 means one of them would basically have to adapt to a world that doesn’t belong to them. That’s also why I’m curious about Vassago. Maybe he could somehow help Stolas regain his title, powers and old life—possibly even through marriage or another connection to nobility. And if Stolas is eventually given the choice between this new life and returning to the world he knows, I really wonder what he’ll choose.
