If you're a billionaire, this budget is Christmas come early. Canadians are struggling with the cost of everything — groceries, rent, medication, and everything in between. But this budget only makes it easier for the same corporations fuelling the crisis to profit even more.

The same guy who was caught fixing the price of bread for years now claims that the big grocers have no control over prices. Give me a break. Canadians aren’t stupid. We see Galen getting richer and richer as grocery costs skyrocket. We know we’re being ripped off. It’s time to break up the Big Grocery Cartel and drive down costs with a national network of public grocery stores that Canadians can actually afford to shop at.

“I no longer feel proud to be Israeli… We are occupiers, yes… wait, i thought we were on commercial break!” Amazing — Israeli actress Chelli Goldenberg accidentally tells the truth when she doesn’t realize she’s live on the air. (H/T @MintPressNews) More: israelnationalnews.com/news/…

This is private equity, this is what it does. Buy up businesses, run them into the ground, and rip them apart for short-term profit. The developers at BioWare know how to run the studio. They know how to make the games we all love. They should be given the first opportunity - and the federal support - to buy it and run it themselves. And if we want to avoid the Mass Effect effect in Canada, we should be keeping private equity out, not welcoming it in. pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/…

It should be illegal for Israel’s top arms producer to purchase a Canadian company. Elbit Systems is complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. Cancel the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement, enact sanctions and a two-way arms embargo now.

Nothing good will come out of the privatization of our airports. This is absolutely insane. Fuck trump for forcing the hand of the voters last election.
Mark Carney announces Canada is willing to let private companies run airports in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal “The Government of Canada will retain ownership of the underlying land and assets, but we will unlock their true value, by bringing in new capital and expertise into their operations and growth. We will reinvest the tens of billions of dollars of capital we raise into the infrastructure that Canada needs for the next generation. Canadian pension funds already invest successfully in many airports around the world. It is time to bring that same expertise home to more directly benefit all Canadians.” #cdnpoli

Privatizing airports is a terrible deal for travellers, workers, and the public purse. Around the world, it has led to higher travel costs, fewer jobs and worse working conditions. Private equity moguls and fund managers love it! Once they’re in, they own a piece of a natural monopoly, and they print money for decades. This is a mistake we do not need to make. The alternative to privatizing our airports is to NOT DO IT.

Since October 7th, Israeli soldiers and civilians have killed 1,000+ Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, 241 of them children. Israeli settlers have burned homes and businesses with the Israeli government’s backing. Don't believe me? Hear it from a former Israeli soldier.

The water that data centers use for electricity generation in just the top 7 states with the most data centers is the equivalent of 12-times the annual water use of Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Washington, DC, combined. The think tank Ceres has a new report detailing how data centers use much more water for electricity generation than they do in the facilities themselves. Bloomberg just reported on the study, saying that data centers in the seven states with the highest concentrations of them use about 3.4 trillion gallons of freshwater for electric power generation every year, but few electric power producers have connected this increasing power demand to water supply risks. news.bloomberglaw.com/enviro…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ceres prorates power plants' total water withdrawals (largely returned, including hydropower) in 7 states to data centers by their electricity share; experts say such aggregates are not meaningful as impacts are local and consumptive use matters more than withdrawals. news.bloomberglaw.com/environment-an… latitudemedia.com/news/data-cent… ceres.org/resources/repo…

Y’all get what this is, right? Just by touching you with these gloves, cops can literally force your body to involuntarily spasm in a way that looks enough like “resisting arrest” on a bodycam video to justify beating your brains out & shooting you dead consequence-free
This isn't going to become some anomalous method of arresting people. They will be shocking people like this as a matter of course.
