Imagine if every product included an honest message from the engineering team such as "not unit tested", “delivered to you under the pressure of unreasonable managers,” etc. That would be a more interesting and valuable read than marketing BS :-)

Here's an idea. Gemba Architecture. "Architecture by walking around" involves architects walking around and visiting the teams, rather than sitting in a review-committee fortress and waiting for the teams to come to them. Active, not passive, decision making.

Absolutely fascinating insight I just heard from a hiring manager: Adding junior engineers makes the senior engineers on his team *better*, because the constant "Why" questions force them to articulate and confront their own assumptions. Hire juniors for a stronger team!

Things I learnt as a junior developer: 1. Don't be afraid to ask questions 2. Listen to your mentors 3. Document things in code or notepads 4. Keep thinking what I am doing 5. Learn your dev principles I was lucky to have @peteohanlon and Mark I as my first mentors back in 1998.

Please create a safe space for junior developers to feel safe enough to ask questions. If they’re struggling, ask them which concepts specifically they’re struggling with. Don’t leave them in a silo and expect them to succeed. You must invest in your team.
