Keep your head up. Releasing a game is hard. Give it a few weeks to settle in and then come back and take a hard look at why this happened. Keep following the dream!
“My timeline isn’t Luminous Knights → release.
It’s Luminous Knights → next game → third game.” @YahyaDanboos
That mindset makes scope decisions a lot easier. If something doesn’t need to be in this game, save it for the next one.

“Twitter is really a good place to start.” @YahyaDanboos
Make a clip. Post it. See what happens.
The barrier to entry is still incredibly low for indie developers.

Am I allowed to just not like it? Or do I have to be lumped in with the psychopaths?
But you mentioned a.i. so therefore we must get out the pitchforks! No nuanced takes allowed.
“You don’t know when you’re going to blow up.” @YahyaDanboos
That’s why having your Steam page ready BEFORE a post goes viral can matter so much.

I think it's valid for people to say yes. Consumer ethics have existed long before a.i. - If I know a shirt was made in a sweat shop does that matter if it's a great shirt? Yes. People are allowed not to buy a game of they disagree with the use of a.i.
I posted a trailer of my new game yesterday and it passed a million views.
The replies turned into a fight about AI. Some people went straight to personal insults.
Here’s what AI helped me do:
- Completely rework the tooth mechanics and builds in a few days until the gameplay clicked.
- Run millions of simulated fights to test different builds and work on balance.
- Try different visual directions quickly and keep refining the art, animation, and UI until the game looked and felt right.
- Get rid of tons of routine programming tasks so I can focus entirely on game design.
- Add 16 language options, with the fonts and layouts to support them.
- Test save reliability, catch bugs, and fix edge cases.
- Prepare multiple platform versions for the same launch day.
All of that brought it closer to the game I’ve had in my head for years.
If the game is good, does knowing I used AI change that?
“Put your Steam page up as soon as you can.” @YahyaDanboos
It might suck at first. That’s fine. You’re learning.

I'm with you. We are in a weird place right now where crying a.i. has become a weird virtue signal. I have exactly one episode that somewhat focuses on AI and I get weekly comments on it like "bro you've changed" or "unsubscribed" I'm even quite skeptical of a.i. myself
Thanks for being an inspiration and proving that generosity is still an option ❤️
Congrats! Such a. Huge accomplishment to release your first game
I made my first game! 🥳
I’ve genuinely had the best time making it and I’m so excited for people to finally play it.
Tiny Tanks is out now on the App Store:

It's like that old chef Boyardi commerical
“Go find a thousand ways of how NOT to do it, and then you’ll learn how to do it.”
Advice Yahya got from his game development teacher that he didn’t understand until years later.

Nope. No sir
