In 1998, Japanese Pokémon fans had the opportunity to earn one of the rarest Magikarp cards ever produced by participating in the Tamamushi University Hyper Test. Participants had to pass a Pokémon-themed academic exam and qualify for a special tournament, where successful competitors could receive the exclusive University Magikarp promo.
