An historic moment. President Trump has defied Congress, including many of his own loyalists, to come to the aid of Vladimir Putin. The global sanctions regime is going to buckle. As a Canadian, I'll say it again: America is not our enemy. Trump is.

The reality is finally sinking in. First by stealth and subterfuge, now openly, the American president is aiding and abetting the enemy.

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

That’s because @MikeRogersForMI is not a serious person. Canada Tariffs have destroyed jobs and cost us money. He just doesn’t want to say it straight because it would trigger Donald.

Whoever thought Carney would just be a technocratic prime minister should watch this. Perfect timing…

Another way to think about Trump announcement today: If he increased US diesel imports from Canada by 4%, he would gain as much fuel as from this Russia deal. But the Canadians are global super-villains, so who wants to buy from them when you could enrich Putin instead?

We have a US president repeatedly stating he is planning for our annexation and now we learn US government officials are presently involved in fomenting two provincial separatism movements. This is so beneath the principles on which the US was founded. This is the stuff of Putin’s Russia. Who in America voted for this?

Wow. Imagine scenes like this in Ottawa during a Xi state visit. MAGA, and its Temu knockoff, Maple MAGA, would be in total meltdown by now, demanding Trump slap Canada with 1000% tariffs and annex Canada by dinner.

I remember when Carney met Xi, it's was "bending the knee to communism" and selling out Canada TO China.
When Trump meets China, its critical, and the "relationship that matters."

It's just stunning how many MAGA Trump sycophants who have never said a bad word about Canada in their lives suddenly are working themselves up into a frenzy of hated of that country because of their fawning obeisance to that man.

Just before the Liberal leadership contest, I randomly met a veteran central banker at a party and asked him about Carney and he said he was one of the smartest people in the world but he'd never make it in electoral politics.
Maybe we other countries should try smart pols?
