gm. We've been heads down rebuilding @vaultdotfm from the ground up. now it’s time to ship.
Today I’m excited to share what we’ve been working on:
The fastest way for artists to drop music, videos, and moments first with fans and actually own the audience that shows up.
.@Ayrastarr previewed her new album in a @vaultdotfm group chat
- 1,900 fans joined
- 691 chatted live, the biggest room in Vault history
- 3,787 messages
- 5,360 reactions in an hour
- 50% of the chat participated
She keeps every phone number. The next one is a text away
The part the numbers don't show: she played 12 snippets, showed off her first signed vinyl, and replied to fans by name. 47% of the room sent a message or reacted. The final 5 minutes were the second-busiest of the hour. Nobody wanted it to end
I think well see a shift in album previews from going one direction to more of a conversation (like concerts!)

If you missed the live chat on Vault fm with Ayra Starr then I pity you! Ms. Paper and Heaven Baby are my favorites 😩

2,000 people in the group chat with @ayrastarr right now while she plays unreleased songs from her next album
our biggest live group chat yet.
We need more concert style energy on the internet. Back to shipping 🫡
Tomorrow the legend @ayrastarr is using our live group chats @vaultdotfm to preview her new album Starr Girl with her fans.
one hour group chat. then it’s gone.
talking with fans > talking at them

gm. spent the last month making the biggest decision since we started @vaultdotfm
every tool artists have today is a megaphone. social posts, mass texts, email lists. one person talking, a million people listening, nobody talking back
megaphones make audiences. rooms make family
we're going all in on the room: live group chats
couldn’t agree more except “one on one"
concerts are the blueprint. the artist feeds off the crowd, and everyone leaves feeling closer. that’s why the merch table beats the website
no one has nailed the online version of this yet and why we went all in on the live group chats for @vaultdotfm
I think my greatest strength as a founder is that i refuse to give up
I didn’t get everything right building Sound but the biggest lesson was that the community formed along the way was what was responsible for much of the success of songs se. the Twitter Spaces, the group chats, the friendships.
the live group chats we've spent the past few months building at @vaultdotfm are that, on purpose.
The connection of a concert without the upkeep of a community.
Replying to @dgreenstein1
my weakness as a founder is trying to solve too many problems at once. the best products do one thing well
so we picked our one thing: making the internet feel like a concert
we're building vault to be the easiest place for artists to be with their fans in real time and turn them into family
going all in on live group chats

and why not just run it on whatsapp or discord?
because those rooms never end. a chat that's always on becomes a 24/7 job for the artist and background noise for fans
vault chats are live events. no app, no signup, just show up while it's happening. when the moment's over, the chat ends
like a concert. except this time the artist keeps the guest list, and texting everyone into the next one is free

To celebrate the one month anniversary of Drake releasing 3 albums. I’m hosting a group chat where we can debate our favorite songs.
We are starting tomorrow at 5PM EST. Tap the link to RSVP. Spots are limited.

A distinction I keep coming back to as we build @vaultdotfm
Talking at fans → broadcasts, mass texts, IG posts
Talking with fans → group chats, listening parties, real back-and-forth
Most artist tools are built for the first. We’re betting on the second
The Knicks going from Frank Ntilikina to Jalen Brunson in the #11 jersey is the biggest upgrade in NBA history.
Good news is no one ever needs to wear the number again.
