To get League of Legends and Valorant onto Omarchy, it'll help to have good friends at Tencent!

How do you feel about China? Aren't they quite good at software engineering?

China is clearly very good at software engineering. From AI models to systems scaling to a billion people. My comments here are about design and aesthetics.

Fortnite, League of Legends and Valorant on Linux and there is absolute zero reasons to have Windows installed

Omarchy already ships the agents pre-wired, so once the games are playable, the interesting part is whether those agents can actually help debug the Wine/Proton edge cases in real time.

Riot is the harder one. Epic's anti-cheat already had a Linux mode, but Vanguard on both games is a kernel driver that loads at boot on Windows. Riot would have to sign off on a Linux kernel module or a weaker check. That's a policy call at Riot, not a port.

Are you opening Omarchys' kernel legs wide and open for the Chinese kernel Spyware, ahem, I mean anti-cheat?

@dhh please work with Kunos, and bring @AC_assettocorsa to Omarcy 🙏🙏🙏

Ah yes, many of us love Linux because of the *checks notes* spyware installed straight into the kernel Any lingering interest I may have had in Omarchy has been summarily splatted

Don't do it! Not being able to play lol in Linux is such a productive feature 🤣

worry about the slew of CVEs Omarchy has first

The hard part probably won't be Proton, it'll be Vanguard. Riot's anti-cheat runs at kernel level on Windows, so Linux support means either a real Linux driver or leaning on server-side detection. Curious which way that conversation goes.

It would be the end of my last windows machine. I know many people who turn on windows because of valorant or lol.

I fear for what these companies want to do with Linux to accomplish it... Linux users do not want intrusive software on their machine/ OS.
106
Dude, you're a legend. I don't even like that game.
42
Vanguard is the hard part. Riot's anti-cheat hooks deep into Windows, which is why Valorant has never run on Linux. If anyone can get Riot to change that, it's probably their owner.
483
Yes! If game developers won't come to Linux, bring Linux to the game developers!

man, Dota2 and CS is soooo much better (Valve > Riot). But again, my opinion should not be taken under advisement
52
Destiny 2 next please! From my understanding, it is only due to BattleEye.
76
that's the only thing keeping me booting back into windows. If you can pull that off I'll be on Omarchy all day and night. But ofc the fps and performance should be the same if not better than on Windows.

NOOO DHH don’t put league on it. That would ruin me.

Valorant would be the big one... that anti-cheat has been the wall for Linux forever. If Tencent's on board, a lot of people lose their last reason to keep a Windows box around 👀

If you succeed at this, you will arguably be the most important figure for bringing the Linux desktop to the mainstream. Tech skills are not enough. You need to connect with people. Absolutely rooting for this!

Was expecting "to have good friends at Riot" but what do I know...
405
friendship really is the best compatibility layer. which one would u want working first, league or valorant?

vanguard on a linux box is the real boss fight
537
If you pull this off you are the GOAT! Escape from tarkov next? Then I will ditch windows for good!

Did you see the datacenter? Love how they made it look the way every 15 year old thinks a datacenter looks after seeing the Matrix

I hope this doesn't lead to Devs building kernel level antichrat for Linux
72
riot shut linux out of league with vanguard in patch 14.9, after counting just over 800 linux players
1
517
the code part is easy compared to getting riot to trust a kernel they don't control. a distro with one known config is probably the only way vanguard ever lands on linux

Valorant in Linux? Yes, please.

Man if you can somehow get that to happen that'd be amazing. Personally I think it should be through virtualization, universal anticheat without like having to take over the users's PC
