In Q3, I burned down my ad creative agency and fired 60% of my clients to focus on our top 5... This might seem stupid—especially since most agencies are revenue-hungry and laser-focused on client acquisition at all costs. But let me tell you why this was the BEST decision we ever made: More Clients ≠ Better Business: For years, I thought the answer to growth was “more.” More clients. More employees. More money. Right? Wrong. At one point, we were managing 15 clients, thinking we were thriving. But behind the scenes, cracks were forming: → Communication started breaking down → Projects and datelines were rushed, and creativity suffered → Most clients were draining time and energy but delivered minimal returns → Team bandwidth was stretched thin, leading to burnout and average results → We were onboarding 3-4 clients a month but at the same time churning the same amount or more I realised that adding more clients wasn’t scalable—it was a recipe for mediocrity and ultimately, disaster. So I made a bold but much needed decision: We cut 60% of our clients and chose to focus exclusively on the top five. How Leaning Out Transformed Our Agency: This wasn’t just about cutting clients—it was a complete rethink of how we operate. In addition to focusing on fewer, high-value clients, we leaned out our team and doubled down on A-players only—those with the skills and mindset to deliver exceptional results consistently. Here’s how this shift changed everything: 1. Deeper Partnerships & Better Communication: With fewer clients, communication became faster, clearer, and more meaningful. We could finally step into a proactive role—spotting opportunities and resolving problems before they escalated. The result? Our clients began trusting us as strategic partners, not just vendors. 2. Elevated Creative Output With a streamlined, high-performing team, every idea and execution improved. Instead of spreading ourselves thin, we focused on creating high-impact ad concepts with deeper creative strategy. The extra time and energy meant more intent and higher performance. 3. More Services + Performance-Based Pricing = Higher Margins We also started offering more services—taking full control of the customer journey through not only creative development & production, but also media buying and funnel development. We also added performance-based pricing on top of monthly flat retainers, giving us and our clients a shared incentive for growth. Now instead of trying to replace churned clients, we started focusing on selecting the best clients and making each relationship more profitable. Less chasing, more delivering. The Impact: Fewer Clients, Better Results, Higher Margins The results of this shift were immediate: Although total revenue dropped initially, the margins improved significantly. Client results improved dramatically because we were no longer stretched thin. Clients were thrilled—they got more time, more energy, and more value from our agency. And the best part? We finally stopped chasing clients and started scaling smarter. A Leaner, Smarter Future Cutting 60% of our clients and leaning into our top five wasn’t just a shift in strategy—it was a new way of doing business. With A-players on our team and fewer clients to manage, we’re operating at our highest level. It’s no longer about how many clients we serve, but how deeply we serve the each of the right ones. And the results speak for themselves: → More trust → More impact → More profit If you’re running an agency or business, here’s a question to ask yourself... Are you actually delivering your best to all your clients—or are you just busy? Often times, less is more. And when you cut the noise, the results might surprise you.

Your video editor is the most important person on your creative team. This is not an opinion. It's a fact. If they understand hook selection, pacing, sound selection, visual selection, when and how to use specific captions styles that fit the brand AND they're fast you need to do all you can to keep them. Train them to become Creative Directors and you'll have an insane unlock in your creative output.

Most think writing is creative - it's not. At least not when it comes to marketing. When I first started writing, I thought there was some secret to creating incredible ads. I read Cashvertizing and Breakthrough Advertising and realized I was overcomplicating it. But after reading those books I still couldn't apply the simple principles I had just learned. I hadn't developed the skill of simplicity. So I wrote every single day for 2 years straight. At a certain point throughout those first few months I unlocked something. Framework recognition. I would make sure every 2 - 3 lines had a statement or question that would have the reader either nodding their head "YES" or "NO". This helped me cut out fluff. But it went even deeper. At some point after the first year, I discovered formulaic ways to write for specific audiences, demographics, desires and awareness levels. The key, was that they were all Simple, Objective, and Formulaic. And they all stem back to emotional resonance - or how we logically justify emotional decision making in our heads. That's when I really started to make progress with my scriptwriting, advertorials, mini-vsls and paid ads. Stop overcomplicating your writing. Success WILL NOT come from anything except understanding simple human psychology and emotional fundamentals.

DTC founders: Most of your customers have already decided to buy your product, long before they even saw your ad. In fact, it’s rooted in their childhood. Your audience’s childhood determines whether they’ll buy your product or not. So if you aren’t tapping into the 3 core emotional drivers that stem from their formative years, your ads are already set to fail. This post is all you NEED to know about why humans buy anything - and how to make your product irresistible by speaking directly to their subconscious needs. Before I explain how your customers’ childhood shapes their buying decisions... Let’s break down how their brains really work: As humans, we work based on two different parts of our brain → Subconscious level → And conscious level 95 percent of what we do on a daily basis is pre-recorded reactions. Making coffee, driving your car, putting on makeup, putting on your shoes, etc You don’t have to make conscious efforts to do all these things. And the way the subconscious works is pretty simple: All day it records everything. Constantly logging our experiences, the people we meet, and the influences we absorb. And it's these recordings from our earliest years that have a massive influence over our buying behaviours as adults. There are countless psychological principles that drive your audience’s purchase decisions (8 Core Desires, 9 Mindstates etc.) But in essence, every experience can be broken down into these 3 main buckets: → Security → Entertainment → Community Let me break down each in detail. Security: Security includes basic core needs: Food, water, shelter, and clothes. As a child, if you didn't quite get a whole lot of security, then you will purchase things that make you feel secure as an adult. And this will continue in your buying patterns. These people are the ones who will be drawn to products that offer protection and stability. For them, a home security system isn't just a product. It's a promise of safety they craved as a child. Or maybe food subscription services that offer the assurance of nourishment they once lacked. Entertainment: Everyone wants fun and entertainment. As a child, we want to be engaged in activities. But if someone really struggled with not being entertained enough. Or someone who didn't do enough as a child. They’ll purchase products that give them systems to make it easier for themselves. The products that make them feel engaged. Eg: Latest gaming console or PS5 or maybe going on trips. Community: The community always has to do with who's around you. Everyone wants to have people in their life who value and love them. So if you haven't had enough community as a child, you grew up needing more people to accept you and validate your ideas. And this is why you’ll purchase things based upon that feeling of "I want people to see me and value me" That’s where status comes in. Luxurious products. Expensive cars. You name it. You see, there’s a reason behind each purchase we make which is related back to our childhood. Understanding these drivers is key to creating ads that resonate on a deeper level. And this is why just talking about benefits in your ad creatives is not enough. You need to also show how your product fills these emotional voids. When you start to align your product with these fundamental emotional needs, you're not just selling. You're providing a piece of what was missing. And this helps them feel balanced in their childhood form of themselves. So DTC founders. It's time to look beyond the surface. Dive into the psychology of your customers. Start speaking speaking directly to their subconscious needs. When you start doing this you'll see not just a boost in your sales, conversion rates and LTV. But a transformation in the very relationship your customers have with your brand.

The single most profitable creative that’s currently in our arsenal? The “rant style creative.” Here’s how to perfect them: “Vent sessions” get MUCH more attention than the typical “buy my product” ads. Why? -> People connect with raw, unfiltered emotions, especially when someone is voicing their own frustrations or challenges. It feels genuine. -> Rants are unexpected and disrupt the typical scrolling pattern. They demand attention because they come across as real and urgent. -> Ranting humanizes the brand, making it feel like a real person is behind it, which creates trust more than a polished, sales-focused ad. -> They spark conversation, leading to comments, shares, or emotional reactions, driving more organic reach. Rant creatives showcase the creator talking straight to the camera, like they’re conversing with you, sharing what they’re going through, and discussing details that hit home for the audience. The real, unpolished style slows things down and builds a stronger connection without flashy edits to keep attention. To make the “rant style creative” work for your brand, you need: A creator who fits your target audience. They need to feel relatable to your customer base. A creator who can deliver emotion authentically. Not every creator has the ability to nail a genuine, heartfelt rant. You need someone who can tap into that realness on camera. The real success of this format comes from the concept itself. At first, we thought it was the combination of concept + messaging, but we tried the same concept with a completely different brand and audience, swapped the messaging, and it still became the top-performing ad. The rant style works phenomenally well. As a brand owner, Think about your target consumer. If they were going to vent about their problems to someone they trust, What would they say? How would they say it? Recreate that moment with a content creator who’s comfortable talking to the camera (not in a polished influencer tone) and let it rip. Everyone loves a good vent, especially when it sells.

I’ve seen it over and over again The money EXPONENTIAL curve A lot of people here on money Twitter are talking about how “effortless” it is to get to 100k+/months And it always seems like it took them only a few months to get there It is - but only if you are EXCEPTIONALLY good at all all the skills required for you to get there Being great at one skill isn’t enough As an entrepreneur, you need to keep stacking skills When I started my ecom agency, I knew how to run FB ads But this wasn’t enough: → I had to learn how to craft a great strategy that’ll produce banger ad creatives → I had to learn how to build websites & landing pages, so I could build my own → As an introvert with no sales experience, I had to practice a lot before I started to close my first few deals → I wanted to get clients through Twitter, so I took @wizofecom ’s help and learned how to write content that gets attention and high-quality leads → I wanted to expand my team, so I had to learn the skill of attracting the right people, and being a good leader The list goes on It wasn’t just one skill I had to stack multiple skills together, one by one And I did this for 3 years despite seeing no real growth, before things started to finally click in Q4 2023 So whoever tells you, you can make a fortune just by focusing on ONE skill - they're not giving you the full picture As an entrepreneur, you have to stack a lot of key skills together before you finally have a profitable business (and this includes solopreneurs) Agency, ecom, SAAS, affiliate - whatever it is There’s no magical business model that will instantly hit and scale when you start But once you find a Winning product/service and combine it with all the skills you’ve stacked over the years, the money will come raining eventually And this is why I believe: LUCK = Preparation (stacking up all the skills) + Opportunity (when you find a winning product/ service)

I need a list of everyone on X who is actually spending EVERY DAY either: +Writing copy - scripts, briefs, vsl's, landers, listicles, advertorials. +Editing videos, auditing creative + QC for internal creative. +Strategizing concepts, going through comments, hangin out in forums, doing brain dumps, mapping audience archetypes. +In ads manager deducing results from tests, and getting nitty gritty with the data. Basically a list of people actually fucking working, not the salesman CEO's.
