okay love the new research coming out about ADHD because it is vastly underrepresented amongst mental health studies (esp. when it comes to health studies of women)
but i kinda hate how the wording is coming out on social media. this behavior is not the same as “unconsciously picking fights” it is a neurological misfiring that is uncontrollable. it’s hard for both partners of course, but it’s a result executive dysfunction and dopamine dysregulation; not malice

i know to the outside observer it ultimately “just seems like picking fights” but the clinical accuracy in which we discuss these conditions really matters, so we do not start punishing and persecuting disabled people for being disabled
i also do not like this language of “before it ruins your weekend” as if the expressions of disability are harder for the people around them, than it is for the disabled person themselves. emotional dysregulation and transitional anxiety are stressful for both people, but the experience is consistently most debilitating for the person navigating the neurological barrier itself
