A throaty contralto that stretched blues, country, and folk into the heart of jazz earned her the title "America's Best Singer." Cassandra Wilson has died at 70, leaving behind two Grammys and a sound entirely her own. zurl.co/uWKQ7

16 Montreal police officers are under investigation for keeping the locs of apprehended Black men as trophies. No, this isn't the U.S. It's Canada. The depths of racism never cease to shock, turning human beings into targets and their identities into souvenirs.

In the Brazilian music scene right now, two incredible Black trans artists are absolutely shining and stealing everyoneâs hearts: Liniker and Urias.
Liniker, with that velvety voice and magnetic energy that just pulls you in, is out on an international tour with her album Caju â the one that brought her multiple Latin Grammys and really cemented her as one of the strongest voices in Brazilian music today. In July sheâs closing this beautiful chapter with her biggest show ever: the âBye Bye Cajuâ concert at Allianz Parque Stadium in SĂŁo Paulo on July 11.
Meanwhile, Urias keeps touching souls with Carranca, her third studio album (released in 2025). Itâs such a deep, spiritual project â full of ancestry, Black resistance, freedom, and the protective power of those traditional carranca sculptures that guard boats and ward off evil. Sheâs proving herself as one of the boldest and most creative forces in the new generation.

I'm proud to be a co-sponsor of the Trans Bill of Rights. Our trans siblings deserve safety, dignity, & freedom.
The Trans Bill of Rights would guarantee federal protections for trans people.
Send a message and urge your members of Congress in the House and the Senate to co-sponsor the Trans Bill of Rights:

Much love to Alex Pretti and Renee Goodâbut rememberâICE has killed 9 people in 2026. You know the names of the 2 white people they've killed.
ICE has also killed a Black man named Keith Porter, a Cambodian named Parady La, and five Latinos named Heber Sanchaz DomĂnguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres, and Geraldo Lunas Campos.
ICE is on pace to kill more than 100 people this year. Abolish ICE. Impeach Noem. Prosecute those who committed these crimes.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
