This is probably one of the saddest things I’ve had to write.

For the past six months, I’ve been rotating through Internal Medicine, and during this period, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of PARAQUAT POISONING. I’ve seen young people come into the hospital after taking this chemical, only for us to lose them despite our efforts.
One of my recent patients was a 33-year-old married woman who took paraquat while trying to end an unwanted pregnancy. Another patient I remember took it hoping to gain her boyfriend’s sympathy after a breakup. Sadly, we lost her too
These experiences are heartbreaking because, in many cases, the people who take paraquat later regret their decision. They plead with us to save them, and we do everything we can. Unfortunately, paraquat poisoning is extremely difficult to treat and can be fatal even when medical care is provided.
What makes it even more devastating is that death may not occur immediately. The person may suffer serious complications over days or weeks, while their loved ones watch helplessly and the medical team fights to save them.
Please, if you are going through emotional pain, a difficult relationship, an unwanted pregnancy, or any situation that feels impossible to overcome, I beg you to seek help. Talk to someone you trust. Reach out to a healthcare professional. Give yourself the chance to get through this
