For the first time, in the history of Kenya, A Luhya Song (Muliro Wanje) is playing at a GEMA festival, courtesy of Sifuna and Gachagua.
That is a statement.
Mt. ELGON and Mt KENYA is now one.

You already know that @rigathi runs a very disciplined, well-oiled machine in that DCP party. It's actually a marvel to see their operations, protocol, security and ushering functions roll out so effortlessly at public functions. It confirms Gachagua's public service credentials as a former uniformed officer.
But what now sets Gachagua apart from all Kenyan leaders, past and present, is that he has repeatedly named @methumuhia as his heir and the next Mount Kenya kingpin. This is a big deal, because no Kenyan leader has ever had the confidence and self esteem to tap the next generation of community, party and national leadership well in advance, while still active himself.
Imagine if, for instance Raila would have tapped Sifuna while still alive. It would have extinguished the expensive misadventure of characters like @gladyswanga and @JunetMohamed.
Meanwhile, while Gachagua is proudly grooming new leadership and securing continuity in the mountain, jealous overlords who have been around for two centuries like @MusaliaMudavadi and @HonWetangula are asking the Mulembe Nation not to follow Sifuna, who, incidentally, the rest of the nation is celebrating at every opportunity.
They didn't even have to create a new Luhya leadership. The country just bestowed it on them. Wetangula has been on the scene for 50 years (the guy was even in court for the 1983 Ochuka trials). Mudavadi has been a reluctant journeyman each time the baton was passed to him (refer to his story on this page) since his father, Substone, died in 1989.
Sifuna was just an infant when both Wetangula and Mudavadi hit the national scene. If there were any leadership ideas or blueprints the two had, they've had four full decades to implement them, without blaming Sifuna for their own evident failures. But like village witchdoctors, the only thing the two ever do is to stunt the growth and success of other community stars. This time, the Luhya must say "Bakheba ta!", to these two ageing vessels of regression.
Kudos to Gachagua for showing the nation that the current and future leadership, the King and the Crown Prince, can dwell side by side without jealousy and paranoia destroying that fabric. As for Mudavadi and Wetangula, the future will sweep you into that dustbin that you deserve to be in.
