My Origin Story: A thread.🧵
TLDR; I’m a Chemical Engineer from the US who quit my job and moved to Iceland to pursue the artistic route of expressing the human connection to nature and wildlife around the globe through science, aesthetics, poetry, and photography.

Vantage Point. I started photographing wildlife from the tops of mountains and hills with a telephoto lens back in 2017. I created this frame just last week.
The trees also release a chemical signal into the air, which alerts other trees in the area of the threat (the hungry Giraffe)… so to combat this, the Giraffe have worked out to walk into the wind, because messages between trees can only be carried down wind. Clever Giraffe…

Expression through motion.
Individuality, free flowing.
Move, forward, onward, fast.
Launch, through the air, sideways flash.

Giraffes can eat up to 29kg of leaves a day. Their favorite food is the African acasia tree. But, Acasia trees will release tannins when under threat resulting in leaves that are bitter & harder to digest. Giraffes can’t eat the same tree & must continuously move.
Focus.
Finally feeling renewed, connected back to this place and to art. It’s been so long since I’ve created new work, edited new portraits of wildlife. Shown what it is exactly that I see in nature and how I see it.
Many more stories to be told from here at @erindinamibia.
Fleeting, floating, eroding away.

Today on World Wildlife Day I wanted to share some personal thoughts on the state of Nature.
The world is more connected than ever. We see countless photographs of animals on social media, in magazines, in advertisements.
And the wildlife that we depend on for more than our culture, for our very livelihoods, the delicate balance of ecosystems that support life on this planet, is at risk.
So, today on World Wildlife Day, I want you to just consider for a moment your role in this whole story.
