Brian May resigned from the RSPCA, the organisation created specifically to protect animals from cruelty, because he no longer believed it was doing enough to prevent that cruelty. His decision, announced on Instagram, quickly turned into something much bigger. Ricky Gervais and Joanna Lumley joined other celebrities in calling for change, more than 60 animal protection organisations signed a petition, the RSPCA opened an internal investigation, and its own Chief Executive eventually announced that he would step down. May had served as a Vice President of the RSPCA since 2012. For twelve years he had raised money and campaigned for animal welfare. But in September 2024 he learned what had been happening on some farms carrying the RSPCA Assured label. Investigations had uncovered overcrowding, poor hygiene, and cases of physical abuse on more than 40 certified farms. Major supermarkets were signed up to the scheme, so customers could see the RSPCA label and believe they were paying extra for higher standards. May gave the organisation time to respond. In the end he felt the response was completely inadequate. On September 26, 2024, he posted his resignation letter on Instagram. “It is with profound sadness and not without massive soul-searching that today I have to offer my resignation as a vice-president of the RSPCA. Good folks out there are still paying extra for animal produce with the RSPCA sticker on it — thinking they are protecting farm animals from cruelty. In the end there was no other option for me.” The following day Bryan Adams, Moby, Ricky Gervais, Joanna Lumley and others signed an open letter urging the RSPCA to abandon the scheme. More than 60 animal protection organisations signed it. The RSPCA launched an internal review and its Chief Executive announced he would step down by the end of the year. Brian May walked away from the animal protection organisation he had supported for twelve years because he believed it was not providing enough protection to animals. And somehow there may be no decision more perfectly Brian May than that.

🚨𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Premier League clubs are very mad at the FA for delaying Manchester city punishment, some believe that, they shouldn't be playing right now. Meanwhile the premier league plan to let the 19 clubs vote for the eviction of Manchester city from the premier league.

Three years since October 7, 2023. We remember the lives stolen by Palestinian Hamas. We honor the heroes. We carry the scars. And still, we stand. We rebuild. We live. We choose hope. Am Yisrael Chai. 🇮🇱 #UNFORGO7TEN

No actually, many of us don’t stand with Gaza. Many of us stand with British Jews who are increasingly frightened by these vile hate marches and dangerous rhetoric coming from the left

Tonight in Brighton 250 people came out to mark three years on from the Hamas massacre. This was truly an epic show of togetherness and solidarity especially after the horrors last weekend with the Green Party motion in our city. What a special community 🕯️💙

Unfortunately so …
🚨 Thierry Henry on Arsenal’s 3–0 at Brighton: 🗣️ Henry: “This is Arsenal’s first 3–0 league defeat in three years, and it showed something people didn’t want to say. When the game gets away from this team, they can look ordinary. Ødegaard was poor. Loose with the ball. Couldn’t get them playing. Brighton punished every cheap pass. Saka wasn’t in it. Havertz couldn’t touch the game. The big players went missing when the score asked a question. And I look at Arteta. Why isn’t Lewis-Skelly starting a game that needed legs? Brighton ran through that midfield. Guimarães and Rice got outworked. That’s the story in the middle. Raya had conceded one Premier League goal all season. Tonight that comfort got ripped up. Three goals. No answer. Title talk is easy when you’re winning ugly. Tonight they looked like a team that can be hunted. Brighton didn’t just beat Arsenal. They made them look average.”

In the last few months, my life has changed beyond all compare. I made a decision to support my Jewish friends and without hesitation. I feel anxious almost everywhere I go but I do not regret my decision. I have seen friends that I have helped and supported turn on me without a conversation. It hurts because I know that not only do they know Jewish people but they have benefited hugely from the association with Jews. British Jews have always made London better from Philip Sallon's crazy nightclubs to the brick lane Bagel shop. More importantly and most shocking is that many of these anti Isreal people have zero political instincts. They only care because it has become fashionable to care. I would go as far to say that they are the biggest and most hideous cowardly fakes to walk this earth. Why are people who support their Jewish friends being called to account while these fakes, like Ed Sheeran, Jade and countless others get to pretend to care about a situation they could not comprehend even if they really tried. I support anyone calling for peace. That is what we should all be doing. How can Isreal be an apartheid state when Arabs and Christians live there peacefully and are part of the political system? As for Ed Miliband, clearly we know why he never because Prime Minister and Andy Burnham won't be getting my vote. In life there are people who see what's going on and others who just blindly follow the trends. Remember. Fashions change. Yes. I do mean you! open.spotify.com/track/3Sh2s…

🚨🔴⚪️ Bruno Guimarães on joining Arsenal: 🇧🇷 “I have joined a club full of history, and I know the demands are huge. Some things are simple. Yes, the Middle East is complicated. History is complicated. Borders are complicated. Politics are complicated. But kidnapping civilians is not complicated. Antisemitism is not complicated. Celebrating massacres is not complicated. “It’s complicated” is often how people avoid saying "it's wrong."

This one’s on Mamdani. Zohran Mamdani publicly mourned Ahmed Wishah as a journalist killed by Israel. Then came the part he didn’t mention. The IDF released condemning evidence that Wishah also served in Hamas’ military wing as a sniper operative. This is not a misunderstanding. This time he can't blame the wife. This time it's on him. His words. His bad judgment. His smear.

Many @cityoflondon councillors seem to think UK equality law doesn’t apply to the Hampstead ponds. Members have today voted to unlawfully discriminate against and harass women using the Ladies’ Pond. The clue is in the name: female users don’t expect to encounter male people at the Ladies’ Pond, but that is what the City of London Corporation has endorsed.
Our elected Members have agreed that Hampstead Heath’s Bathing Ponds will remain trans-inclusive spaces under a future access policy. Upgrades to toilets and shower areas will also improve facilities, privacy, and changing areas, with more private cubicles for swimmers. ➡️sbrew.link/s6ElP0eq
