🌊 There's an exciting Postdoctoral Research Associate opportunity at @KingsCollegeLon. Join a team of climate scientists and AI experts to generate new projections of the land ice contribution to sea level rise until 2300 with machine learning. Full info: jobs.ac.uk/job/DOL498/postdo…
I only just found this out. What a tragic loss- we had some lovely discussions over the years about the application of programming language ideas to science. I really like this paper of his (and others): lmcs.episciences.org/3202/pd… and drops.dagstuhl.de/entities/d…
Our dear friend and colleague Cezar Ionescu died earlier this month. I've retrieved from the archives a lecture he recorded for an open day a few years ago: ox.cloud.panopto.eu/Panopto/…

The @Climformatics conference this year added an 'artifact evaluation' stage to review software artifacts of accepted papers. The process was co-led by members of ICCS (@dorchard, Marion Weinzierl, @rolyperera); read all about it in this new blog post

This RSE would also work alongside our team at ICCS in Cambridge on the groundbreaking CALIPSO initiative that aims to transform our understanding of carbon loss in plants, soils, and oceans under the influence of climate change.

Could interactive proof assistants for PLT be more interactive? If you are at #splash2024 @splashcon, join my PhD student Jan at #hatra (11:00, Pacific B) and tell us what you think! Abstract: arxiv.org/abs/2409.13872
Excited to receive funding (along with my colleague Vineet Rajani) to work on graded modal types for quantitative and compositional analysis of higher-order probabilistic programs under this scheme @UniKentComp @granulelang

Replying to @haskellhutt
I made special mention of thanks to @dorchard and @Augustsson who both helped me a lot with dependently-typed programming in Haskell and with Lennart's wonderful orthotope library for multidimensional arrays inspired by APL. hackage.haskell.org/package/…

Britain is about to switch off its last coal power station. MyGridGB has been tracking coal use for 10 years now. From supplying 40% of our electricity when I started my PhD to today… it’s been quite the journey.
So, bye bye King Coal. It’s time for renewables now
