During discussion here on X, I just recalled a very early design I had for the @dotk_name covenant. It was called "slots/nameplates". Attached a rendering of the design. Compared to the gap/deed design: To transfer a name with slots, you needed the nameplate and also the key of the next name. A deed moves alone like a regular coin. Registering a name used to spend the slot of the name before it, which is a bit odd. Now you spend an ownerless gap instead. ...as always with these things there is a lot more to it than the above comparison

The @dotk_name covenant are now open source! A novel gap/deed design makes every .k name unique, on a first come, first served basis. Enforced by #Kaspa consensus. The release comes with a verifier program that explains each check and proves the registry's current state is produced by exactly these sources, and that it is correct *and* complete.

I was a bit weary to add it 😅 As covenants are a bit tricky to get right (safe/secure). But in any case: a new "Market" button magically appeared... The #kaspa @dotk_name marketplace. Some details follow below

dotk 2.0.0 is here! It brings subnames as well as the first open-source release of the sdks. 👇 Subnames can be created by a name holder (for free), like other records they can be updated on the name page. They are one way (safety/security): name -> addr.

1/12 Introducing dotk 🥳, a name service built different - unique, trustless, decentralized - enforced by covenants. Names are a binding of name (supertypo.k) to an address (kaspa:...). dotk names are cheap, and I have a whole page dedicated to the *why* it exists. Highlights 👇
