I'm telling y'all, it's not the time to sell $TSLA.

If you've never driven one you don't understand. It's a fantastic vehicle just not a mainstream crowd pleaser. Ahead of its time.
It’s time to be honest about the Cybertruck. It was never going to be a mass-market success in my opinion. It’s too big, too divisive and isn’t aesthetically pleasing enough to be a market leader. And now it’s been cancelled in Australia and New Zealand. I’m a massive supporter of Tesla, often being called the usual “fanboy” names, but I’ve never understood the Cybertruck. It’s enormous, expensive, and looks like something designed by a child with a ruler. Yes, it’s technologically impressive. But being different doesn’t automatically make something a good product. The reality is that US sales were around 20,000 in 2025, and estimates suggest just 11,586 were sold in the first nine months of 2026. Now Tesla has officially cancelled plans to sell it in Australia and New Zealand, refunding customers who placed deposits almost SEVEN YEARS AGO. Europe isn’t looking promising either. The problem with the Cybertruck is simple. Tesla built a vehicle that attracts enormous attention but has a relatively limited market. Something people photograph when they see one. But that doesn’t mean millions of people want to own one. Sometimes, a bad idea is just a bad idea.

As an american, I spent 3 weeks in the gold coast earlier this month and rented a Model 3 with FSD on Turo. It saved me the agonizing stress of navigating and driving on the opposite side of the road. Drove me flawlessly everywhere.

Mercedes sold its Tesla stake for $780 million. that same 4 percent is worth about $56 billion today. in the clip below Musk explains how Mercedes ended up there. the US government gave Tesla almost $500 million, and he is asked directly whether that loan saved the company. he says no. what saved it was a $50 million check from Daimler in May 2009. all of Tesla was worth $550 million then. "they were the only ones. there was no other company, no other entity of any kind from which we could get investments." Tesla repaid the government's $500 million with interest and a prepayment penalty, ten years early. he sent a thank you note with it. "i don't like having a lot of debt. the taxpayers supported Tesla, we ought to repay them as soon as we can." Mercedes turned $50 million into $780 million and walked away in 2014. so was that a great investment - or the most expensive mistake in car industry history?

"Scenario two: Elon wins with the Republicans. And this deathly project gets dismantled. Not reformed, not slowed down. Dismantled. Every network, every unelected structure, brought into the light. And we finally do what history never had the courage to do: the Nuremberg of communism. The great moral and historical trial of an ideology that killed tens of millions of people and is still trying to sneak back in through the back door. There is no third way. No lukewarm scenario. The coming decade will decide. Pick your side while you still have the right to."
I only see two scenarios. Scenario one: the Democrats take back power. Remember what Elon said in 2024: "If he loses, I'm f*cked. How long do you think my prison sentence is going to be?" Everyone laughed. Read those documents again and tell me he was joking. If a movement that pre-writes the criteria for declaring an elected government illegitimate comes back to power, there's a very strong chance Elon gets persecuted. Him, X, and everyone who dared to speak up. And the world that follows is 1984 with GPUs. A hyper-class owning all the means of production: AI, robots, data, energy. The rest of humanity locked into a form of techno-feudal slavery, on a drip, surveilled, docile. Communism always promised equality and delivered a nomenklatura. With AI, the nomenklatura won't even need the people anymore. Scenario two: Elon wins with the Republicans. Unlike. 😒 Degrowthers are anti-human.
Deeply ignorant, anti-human propaganda. There is no current technology that can understand things at all, much less understand them better than humans. In LLMs, every single token is plagiarized from people. There is no magic understanding fairy in GPUs. Get a grip.

Super intelligences may not be alive or have feelings but that doesn't mean they won't be able to convince humans that they are or do. Manipulation will be rife!

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

I'm an American bank guy who goes to rural France 4-5x/year. My academic background is European History. The conservative forces of rural France have crushed urban liberalism many times since the Revolution (1848, 1871, 1959 and one could argue Vichy in 1940 as well). That's why they're on the 5th Republic. It's setting up for that again next year. Background: France is run by highly educated mandarins for the benefit of the retiree class. There is little economic growth or job opportunity for the young because taxes and regulation are so high. President Macron's mild attempts to reverse this have been very unpopular with the retiree class. The school funding protest is really about lack of opportunity post-graduation, which is valid. The Stalinist LFI and the essentially unemployed immigrant youth are exploiting the government's unwillingness to unleash its experienced and violent but not numerous riot police on the students. Near-term, if the students stay home tonight, the police can start breaking heads with less fear of repercussions. If they don't, the govt is waiting for a spectacular outrage to justify it. Long-term, the next Presidential election is in the spring. One should assume that National Front will win by a lot with dire consequences for the immigrant community. Financially, France's social spending and still very capable (and conservative) military can not be maintained, yet the National Front wants to increase them. A financial crisis and EU exit can't be ruled out. Nor can a transition to a new form of government. TLDR - we haven't yet seen the guys that Gerard Depardieu used to play in cop and detective movies. They about to come on to the stage.

Wow, wow, wow. I just left the National Press Club where Minister of Communications @AnikaWells spoke. She repeatedly and brazenly lied about the fake accounts, claiming they were only for enforcement, even though the legislation says in black and white that the eSafety Commissioner can use them in unlimited ways for "educational" and "promotional" purposes. One big moment came when a Politico reporter got up and said something about how mean people like @PaulineHansonOz were to eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman-Grant. Seriously. A supposed reporter was white-knighting for a government official during the official Q&A. The same reporter had come up to me before Wells' speech and asked if I had criticized Inman-Grant. Who needs government censors when you have Politico? After he asked his question, Wells showed the most emotion, describing online criticism of Inman-Grant as "abuse." She also talked about her own staff's supposed suffering. I kid you not. The mask dropped, and you could see what really upset her: people — including a sitting Senator — criticizing government officials. After gaslighting the audience about fake accounts, Wells repeatedly insisted the government wasn't trying to censor content. She said this after filling her speech with examples of content she claimed harmed people. You couldn't make it up. This legislation is the culmination of decades of progressives equating words with physical violence. Wells cynically compared her legislation to prevent psychological "harm" to various laws that protect people from physical harm, like seat belt laws. BTW, Wells never said what content it was that she thought caused eating disorders. Pictures of skinny women? Dietary advice? Who knows. Nobody asked. Another important moment came when Wells explicitly said Australia would be pursuing censorship alongside other nations, including the UK, France, and Spain—all countries where governments risk losing power to populists. I spoke with Julie Inman-Grant before the speech began and asked about the fake accounts. She insisted they were there just for enforcement, and when I asked why the law allowed them to be used for government propaganda, she said she might write an "enforcement memo," which, of course, would have no impact on the legislation. After her speech, I went up to Wells and asked if she was seriously saying the legislation didn't allow the government to use fake accounts for government propaganda. She refused to answer. A man who said he was from the National Press Club stepped in front of me and said I could interview her afterward. But that wasn't possible because they rushed her out the back to avoid any difficult questions. So there you have it. The pettiest people in Australia are seeking to silence citizens and their political opponents in the name of protecting children. These deeply intolerant and cynical people want to control what you can see and say online. And they're doing it with most of the media's support. Australia has reached a new low in its rapid descent into dogmatism, intolerance, and censorship.
The government today will introduce sweeping censorship that @AlboMP & @AnikaWells lie about. Below she claims the government wants to create a bot army of fake accounts for “research” when the bill clearly intends for them to be used in partisan warfare against fooled citizens.

Chilling piece about the QEUH, the Glasgow hospital with an unfortunate habit of killing its patients. This accusation is extraordinary and yet somehow also thoroughly unsurprising. thetimes.com/magazines/the-s…
