I love the recurring advice to “stock up” on meds. Yeah nothing doctors & esp insurance love more than giving you a lil bit extra, just in case! Some walkin around meds!
The UK govt is telling people to stock up on food, medicine etc & to buy a hand crank radio. Don't buy a hand crank radio. Buy a battery powered radio & lots of batteries. Having cranked a bloody radio through a four day cyclone, I know what I'm talking about.

An AI generated review isn't the purpose of a review. It's a fact check. A review determines if is readable and a contribution, if it is meaningful.

I texted my children that we got the puppy they’ve been begging me for and sent them a link with pictures. 🐶When they clicked on the link, it took them to a webpage that said YOU’RE GROUNDED. They’ll be spending the weekend retaking our family’s cybersecurity training course.

To all the tailgaters in Milwaukee: slow the fuck down. You’ve been going hard since 10AM. The game isn’t for another 3.5 hours. You’re not going to remember it. @Brewers

one of the things i hate about liberals/Liberals is that they'll drown you in a deluge of announcements about "improvements" - like this, or grocery rebates or tax cuts or whatever - while making life worse by creating conditions that favour your exploiters
Lowering your heating costs and reducing emissions. We’re helping one million Canadian households — from apartment buildings to houses — make energy-saving retrofits.

We don’t need AI, what we need is the ability to turn a PDF back into a word doc without the formatting looking like it survived a plane crash.

Even most leftists have a fundamentally right wing analysis of the literacy crisis that's kicking their ass imo. Like they see it as a personal, moral failing that can be solved with greater personal responsibility & shame and are somehow actively hostile to a material analysis.

This is exactly the sort of bloviating from sport/media complex personalities who take on zero physical risk in their work that fuels the dangerous sacrificial culture of high-performance sport. FFS don't valorize players for risking death on the field. Focus on protecting them.
How committed is Jalen Hurts to football? After initially being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in London, doctors told him not to sleep as a precaution, so he had been awake for roughly 36 hours when he started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.

Police in Philadelphia arrested a 78-year-old woman for protesting an Uber Eats delivery robot by standing in its way. Cops charged her with disorderly conduct just for standing in front of a robot on a public sidewalk. Carolyn Marvin is a retired communications professor who spent decades teaching freedom of expression at the University of Pennsylvania. She said she specifically keeps the sidewalk open and fully accessible for human pedestrians, and that her actions only target the autonomous vehicle. Marvin has been blocking delivery robots for months to protest the replacement of human delivery workers. She considers her actions to be protected by the First Amendment.

There should be some kind of calculator where whenever a billionaire donates some amount of money, you can quickly what percentage that is of their net worth, apply it to your own net worth and see how much of a sacrifice it actually is

I’m sorry, but this isn’t uplifting… this story is an example of organizational (and probably medical) malpractice. Jalen Hurts is lucky to be alive.

using generative AI kinda takes the responsibility and risk out of writing, because ultimately it's not you who wrote it, whatever it is, and at the end of the day you can wash your hands of it. it recalls bureaucracy and it's a fetishism of writing. who wrote it? no one

Every teacher prep program covers the basics of lesson planning. Teachers in training practice writing lesson plans way more elaborate than they will ever do once they're in the classroom. My question is do programs teach how to effectively implement those plans, and why not
