Two of the world’s rarest frogs have arrived at London Zoo 🐸 The critically endangered Atewa slippery frog and Afia Birago’s puddle frog arrived from Ghana as part of an international rescue mission led by us alongside Herp Conservation Ghana and the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana. With their forest habitat under increasing threat from mining, both species face a high risk of extinction in the wild. Since arriving at London Zoo, we’ve already achieved the world’s first successful breeding of the Atewa slippery frog in human care, a major step forward for the species’ conservation. Visitors can now see these extraordinary frogs at our Secret Life of Reptiles and Amphibians exhibit.
