I asked 50 Japanese people, ages 9 to 91, one question. "What do you admire most about Americans?" Here are the top answers. 10. "They clap when the plane lands." (Office worker, 34) 9. "They say 'I love you' every time they hang up the phone. Even men. Even to other men." (Taxi driver, 61) 8. "A stranger told me she liked my shoes. Then she just walked away. She didn't want anything." (High school girl, 16) 7. "They thank the bus driver when they get off." (Bus driver, 55. He got emotional saying this.) 6. "They tell you their whole life story in the grocery line. I know about one man's divorce, his boat, and his knee surgery. We knew each other for four minutes." (My mother, 64) 5. "They stand for the anthem at a children's baseball game." (Little League coach, 47) 4. "When they lose, they shake hands and say 'good game.' And they mean it." (Sota, 12) 3. "They fly the flag on a regular Tuesday. No holiday. Just because." (Nurse, 28) 2. "They help a stranger push a car out of the snow, then leave without saying their name." (My cousin's husband, 52, who got stuck in Colorado once) And the number one answer came from the oldest person I asked. My grandfather. He's 91. He thought about it for a long time. Then he said: "They still believe tomorrow will be better than today." I asked him what he meant. "In 1946, we had nothing," he said. "The American soldiers I met were young and far from home. But they acted like the future was coming, and it was going to be good. After a while, we started to believe them." I asked him if he thought Americans still believe that. He nodded slowly. "Tell them," he said, "not to stop."

A brave young lady from my community
Laken Riley had a Garmin smartwatch on when she was attacked Her heart rate jumped to 170 bpm which told investigators that was when she was being attacked It lasted for 17 minutes then suddenly stopped - that's when the animal finally killed her So the next time you want to tell me about how unfair illegal immigrants are being treated I want you to set a timer for 17 minutes and watch it go by so you can understand how long that young woman fought for her life

Wow! Remarkable agreement in the hurricane models overnight and early Wednesday morning. All show a Cat 2 or even Cat 3 hurricane Isaias landfall Friday night into early Saturday - landfall point AL/MS border, likely in southern MS. Hurricane preparation should be implemented immediately Mobile and Gulfport areas. 100 MPH wind gusts and storm surge will occur in these areas.

Here's an early look at possible rainfall amounts. Parts of Georgia may have over 2 inches, other areas less than an 1 inch. This will depend on the location of Isaias and its rain bands is it moves through.

🚨 Attention dog lovers 🚨 Major is a Belgian Malinois service dog. He has spent more than 545 days alone in an isolation kennel at the Austin Animal Center. No walks. No pets. No people. Now the city wants to put him down. Here's what happened: * March 2025, a pickup truck hit Major. * He was hurt and in pain, and a woman who stopped to help tried to lift him into a car. * He bit her. * A municipal judge ordered him euthanized as a danger to the public. * His human, Shane Lilly, has fought it through the Texas Supreme Court ever since. Now a federal judge has put the euthanasia on hold and is expected to decide within days whether an independent trainer can evaluate Major for rehabilitation. More than 54,000 people have signed the petition to free him. An injured dog snapped while a stranger was moving him. After a year and a half in solitary, Austin's answer is a needle? Want to help? Here's who to reach out to: Austin Animal Services: 512-974-2000 Mayor Kirk Watson's office: 512-978-2100 Ask them to agree to an independent evaluation and release Major to a qualified trainer. Please share this and let's get as many people as possible to help this pup!!

🇮🇳🇦🇪 The Flydubai captain has spoken for the first time, saying he kept going because he "couldn't let everybody else die." Smit Machchhar told Indian PM Modi on a video call today that he was so badly wounded he'd collapsed on the cockpit floor, wondering whether he'd ever get back up. With the plane going down and the copilot still beating him, he pushed himself to the cockpit door and opened it, letting passengers rush in to restrain the attacker and help get the Tel Aviv-bound flight back under control. Bleeding on the floor of a falling plane, his last thought was everyone sitting behind that door, and that's the stuff real heroes are made of. Source: CNN / Writer: Julie

We’ve emailed, called & begged—yet Snuggles is still in solitary. For a year: forced to toilet where he sleeps, no activity, no visits, and drugged. End this cruelty NOW!! Send him HOME #SaveSnuggles @SecRollins @JudgeJeanine
An Open Letter to Anyone With a Voice Big Enough to Matter To those who can be heard when others cannot: Please help save Sergeant Snuggles. Snuggles is a young Anatolian Shepherd—a livestock guardian—who belongs to a veteran family in Pima County, Arizona. In October 2025, on his own property, he bit a family member during a moment of extreme stress: a female dog in heat, coyotes nearby, days of agitation, and a startle from behind. It was his first bite. The family member recovered. She has since said, in her own words, that he did not “attack” her, that he stopped when he recognized her, and that she wants him home. A court still ordered him destroyed. Pima Animal Care Center has held him ever since. He has now spent nearly a year in a kennel. County medical records document repeated “shelter stress.” His family has posted bond, paid thousands in boarding fees, offered stronger fencing, professional behavior work, and even transfer to a qualified sanctuary. They have asked only that he not be killed while those options exist. Mercy is not the same as pretending a bite never happened. It is choosing the least irreversible path when the person who was hurt is asking for his life, when the dog has no prior history, and when a working guardian breed did what that breed is wired to do under the wrong conditions. Death cannot be undone. A second chance, with conditions, can. If you have a platform, use it. Share his name. Ask why a first-incident dog is still locked away nearly a year later while his family begs for a humane alternative. Ask Pima County officials to allow transfer to a sanctuary or return under strict safeguards instead of carrying out a death sentence the family and the injured relative oppose. Snuggles cannot speak. The people who love him have nearly exhausted their money and their legal options. What they still have is the hope that someone with a louder voice will refuse to look away. Please help bring Sergeant Snuggles home. #FreeSnugglesNow #SaveSnuggles Petition: change.org/p/save-our-family… Legal filings and updates are public in Evancho v. City of Tucson / Pima County, U.S. District Court, District of Arizona. With respect and urgency, A friend of a family that only wants their dog back.

One of the last photos ever taken of Marine Lance Cpl. Casey L. Casanova showed her smiling at Camp Pendleton before deployment. She looked calm. Young. Full of life. No one standing there knew they were witnessing one of her final moments. Casey served in the United States Marine Corps as a field radio operator with Combat Logistics Battalion 1. She was 22, from McComb, Mississippi, and on her first deployment to Iraq when she was killed on May 2, 2008, in Karmah alongside three fellow Marines. She was the first and only female service member from Mississippi killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Like so many Marines, she carried the weight of duty, sacrifice, and uncertainty while still barely older than a teenager. Photos like this were common before deployment—friends smiling together, families saying goodbye, promises to return safely. Sometimes they never got that chance. That is what makes this image ache with meaning. It captures the quiet moment before everything changed forever. Most Americans will never recognize Casey’s face. Her story was overshadowed by headlines, politics, and the endless cycle of war coverage. But to her family, friends, and fellow Marines, she was never just another name tied to a deployment. She was someone deeply loved. Someone who sang like an angel, who was engaged and looking forward to coming home. Someone whose absence left a permanent hole. The hardest part of military sacrifice is how quickly the world moves on—while families carry the grief forever. Years later, old photos become priceless. One smile. One final picture. One last moment frozen in time before deployment became tragedy. Casey L. Casanova may not be widely remembered in history books, but for those who loved her, she will always remain unforgettable. 🇺🇸🌹❤️
