My wife, sensing I'm about to pull out my harmonica, gently places her hand on my thigh to let me know it's an inappropriate time. We are an incredible team.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses just GUTTED their blood transfusion ban! Members may now accept red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma—nearly everything modern hospitals typically transfuse. This will save lives. It also comes decades too late. friendlyatheist.com/p/jehova…

I’m a retired brain surgeon and I wanna tell you why you feel like life is passing by. I just need one minute to explain this to you so hang in there. Repetitive daily routines stop the brain from recording clear detailed memories. When every day looks the same, your brain does not track time the same as a clock does. It tracks change. If nothing new happens then days, months, and years start to blur together. This is know as Time compression. When life lacks variety, your brain compresses past days together, making it feel like time is sped up. To stop feeling like life is passing you by, add new experiences to your life. Break routine habits, like changing your daily home routine, taking a different route to work, or trying a new hobby. Schedule small trips or plan new adventures so your days do not blend together. Practice mindfulness by staying fully focused on what you are doing right now and not trying to race off to the next task. Keep a journal and write down happy memories or memorable parts of the day before you go to sleep. Take deep, calm breaths when you feel anxious or rushed to return your focus to the moment. You can and you will retrain your brain to not feel like life is passing you by by following these few simple measures.

CBC will rebroadcast The Tragically Hip’s final Kingston concert commercial-free on August 22, marking 10 years since “A National Celebration” brought roughly one-third of Canada together for the band’s farewell. zurl.co/FHjLc

A lot of problems in life are solved by simply adjusting your internal narrative from saying you “have to” do something to saying you “get to” do something. It’s a reminder that most of what we complain about today is something our older self will wish they could go back and do.

"One of the greatest luxuries in life isn't a bigger house, a designer handbag or a five-star holiday. It's a calm nervous system. Going to bed without replaying conversations. Looking at your phone without feeling a knot in your stomach. Feeling peaceful in your own home. Laughing easily. Not waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Protect the people, places and habits that make your body feel safe. They're worth more than most things money can buy."

as i grew older, i learned that the key to surviving the day is not positivity. it's acceptance. accepting that not all days are good and happy. you will have bad days. you make mistakes. you fail. you mess up. everything’s not going to fall into place and that is completely okay
Probably the best advice you need right now as a human being.

Major cheat code for life: Build a boring baseline. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Move your body. Eat simple foods. Save money. Read good books. Avoid drama. Be present. Listen intently. Change your mind. The inputs may not look impressive, but the results certainly do.

Major cheat code for life: Master the art of the fresh start. From a bad morning. From a bad interaction. From a missed workout. From a poor decision. The goal isn't to avoid the fall. It's to shorten the time between the fall and the reset. Fast recovery compounds.

The most dangerous virus right now isn’t biological. It’s the belief that expertise itself is oppression. So when science tries to reduce suffering or prevent deaths, people call it tyranny. A society that treats public health as the enemy stops protecting itself from reality.
