Joe Buddens tournament "ULTRA SOFT" solidified a few things yesterday.
Firstly, we were told for many years that there was no appetite for older Tekken games and no matter how much we said that we'd support legacy collections for these games, we were essentially told to shutup and stop crying.
Secondly, anyone still parroting the idea that this is all fake hype and it'll all be gone by next month are either walking around with their eyes wide shut or trying to rage bait. All I see on my timeline is Tekken 5, Tekken 6, Tag 2 and a lot of people that felt abandoned by the franchise having a ton of fun. We knew what we wanted to play but unlike the CAPCOM and SNK fighting games, we didn't have proper routes to display that. Now we do and now you see what was suppressed for so long.
Lastly, Joe Buddens event last night was the best thing i've seen for Tekken since Tekken 7's last days. The commentary team, chat and players all did a fantastic job in making this one of the most enjoyable Tekken events in recent times. I hope Joe does more of this and I hope people continue showing up to support. Between YouTube and Twitch, he had close to 2,000 people watching at a time. Tekken 6 is a 20 year old game. Let that sink in.
I am so glad people get to experience Tekken as I did when I was growing up. Nobody expects these older games to dwarf the numbers of Tekken 8 and when Yujiro comes out, people will surely return, but its good to have options and it'll make returning to 8 a more enjoyable experience. I've been going back and forth between Tekken 6 and Tag 2 with friends and its been a blast.

After spending time in different regions, I think one reason Pakistani players are strong is how we practice. I've noticed that especially in Tekken, a lot of players in Japan and Korea focus more on ranked matches, while in Pakistan we play a lot of long FT sets.
Even if someone is much better than us, we keep playing to understand the matchup. We practice the same matchup over and over, even if we're losing most of the games.
Of course, players in other regions do this too, but I feel like this is very common in Pakistan and might be one of the reasons we're good at fighting games.
Initially I praised Arjun's design gameplay wise despite the bs. Atm I don't like it because it's such a one dimensional boring to play around design with absurdly skewed reward.

I gaslit my chat earlier today. I installed the chicken wing mod for Arjun after a friend mentioned it to me. It only appears when he is swinging the rock and not when you place the rock. People would say there swore they saw a chicken leg and I told them they were just hungry 😂
