Once again, I am personally convinced that the only right way to deal with this administration is a firm, confident, calm, and utterly non-negotiable “no.” And to calmly, methodically call things by their names in public. We call betrayal betrayal, lies lies, and truth truth. Let him rage and spew whatever vile, lying curses and threats he wants, foaming at the mouth if he likes. If he thinks it will be easier to bully Ukraine into committing suicide for the sake of his own absurd whims of the moment and his itchy little hands, he is deeply mistaken. All that sickening groveling, crawling on our knees, and kissing his ass only makes him climb onto our heads, try to solve his problems at our expense, and go on pleasing his idol in the Kremlin. Ukraine has the extraordinary heroism of its soldiers, Europe, basic common sense, and American public opinion on its side. And has no cards in his deranged attempt to collude with the Kremlin.

Hot Take: Zelensky’s offer to freeze the current lines in a cease fire is strategically brilliant. 1. It publicly demonstrates his willingness to end the war. 2. It is highly unlikely Putin will accept the offer, yet again proving it’s Putin not Zelensky prolonging the war. 3. In the rare event Putin accepts the cease fire, it puts direct pressure on Trump (the great negotiator) to push a peace keeping / monitoring force into the conflict zone, led by US forces. Arguably, this won’t happen… In every case, Trump is further proven wrong. Best of luck with that.

A Trump supporter left me this comment on Facebook… is this like another way to use English words to speak a language? He talks like Trump and at least a third of voting Americans seem to think this is normal communication.

Ukraine has survived this war not simply because of decisions made in presidential offices or Western capitals. It has survived because millions of Ukrainians have demonstrated extraordinary resilience, because soldiers continue to defend the country, and because civil society has mobilized to sustain the state and its defense.

It's 2026. If someone still blames Ukraine for russia's war, they can go f*ck themselves. There's no shades of grey here. If someone doesn't get that russians invaded & Ukrainians are simply defending themselves, then there's something truly deranged & sinister with that person.

❗️ Ukraine will be able to purchase weapons through NATO — faster and at lower prices NATO is granting Kyiv access to its centralized procurement system, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), the Financial Times reports. Ukraine will now be able to purchase weapons, ammunition, and military equipment through the agency, benefiting from existing contracts, logistics networks, and established relationships with manufacturers. The large scale of NATO procurement is expected to speed up deliveries and reduce costs.

Canada's $2.3B pivot away from Starlink isn't just about internet-it's a massive warning shot to Elon Musk over Ukraine. PM Mark Carney directly cited Musk's sudden service cuts and data restrictions to Ukraine as the exact reason Canada must achieve total strategic autonomy. No ally wants to rely on one unpredictable billionaire who can pull the military plug during a war. Canada isn't just protecting itself. The $2.3B contract expands Ottawa-based Telesat Lightspeed into a military-grade satellite network meant for secure Arctic and NORAD defense. Telesat confirmed they plan to deploy this secure system directly to Ukraine and other allied nations. Canada is literally funding the un-pluggable backup system Ukraine has been looking for. 🇨🇦

Russian warblogger Andrey Medvedev has a warning for Moscow. Strikes on Ukraine's infrastructure can give Russians a false sense that Ukraine cannot reach deep into Russian-held territory or Russia itself. He says Ukrainian forces are increasingly using balloons to carry drones and extend the communications links needed to direct attacks. The important part is that a balloon need not be the weapon that hits the target. In Medvedev's account, it can carry drones into Russian-held territory, serve as a signal repeater, or help test the links for attacks farther away. That turns an old, slow-moving aircraft into a platform for a very modern drone war. WHERE HE SAYS THEY ARE FLYING Medvedev says Russian forces regularly shoot down balloons along the highway Russia calls "Novorossiya," and that balloons are being used in attacks on occupied Crimea. He also reports sightings deeper inside Russia. His complaint is simple. People responsible for protecting Russian infrastructure cannot assume distance makes it safe. This revealing admission comes from a Russian commentator. Moscow keeps striking Ukrainian infrastructure while Ukraine looks for ways around how far its own attacks can reach and how well they stay in contact. Medvedev's warning is that a relatively simple platform may help Ukrainian drones reach places Russian defenders thought were beyond their practical range. HOW THE FLIGHT WORKS According to Medvedev, Ukrainian operators study weather applications and air currents before launching the balloons. Rather than steering them like aircraft, they use the wind and adjust altitude with ballast. He describes a system with two 2.5-litre containers of alcohol and an electric pump that releases the liquid to change the balloon's weight. This unusually specific detail explains the broader idea. Altitude control lets a balloon seek different air currents during a long flight. The approach trades speed and precise steering for time in the air and the ability to carry equipment across a considerable distance. Medvedev says the balloons can climb as high as 8,000 metres and are difficult for radar to detect well. They remain accountable. He says Russian forces have shot them down, including with FPV air-defence drones, along the "Novorossiya" route. His argument is that interception is possible only if defenders recognise the threat and look for it. THE COMMUNICATIONS PROBLEM Medvedev is particularly concerned about balloons acting as repeaters. A drone sent deep into Russian-held territory still needs a way to receive commands and send information back. Raising a relay into the sky could extend a link beyond what ground-based equipment can manage. The balloon's value would then be in the network it supports, not merely in what hangs beneath it. He also raises the possibility that balloons flying deeper into Russia are being used to test which networks a repeater can reach. In his account, that includes testing how Starlink-related equipment behaves inside Russia, where he says Starlink supposedly does not operate. He sketches a possible chain of repeater, drones and an operator in Kharkiv. Those are Medvedev's proposed explanations for the flights, not details established by the sighting of any single balloon. His anxiety makes sense given the context. A defender has to contend with the balloon overhead, any drone it carries and the communications path it may provide to other drones. Shooting down one platform does not erase the reason Ukrainian forces would keep experimenting with the method. Medvedev ends by urging Russia to destroy Ukraine's infrastructure so it cannot manufacture weapons. Moscow gives the same brutal answer whenever Ukraine adapts: hit more of the country it invaded. Yet his own account describes Ukrainian teams working with winds, altitude, small payloads and communications links to keep expanding their options despite those attacks. Source: @ChrisO_wiki

In fact, I think it's a good strategy for Zelensky to scream bloody murder over Trump's betrayal in every interview with the Western press before the midterms. Most Americans have a negative view of Russia and do not support Trump's efforts to ally with it. There is absolutely no reason Russia should be the only one influencing American elections.

🛳️ Here's a funny one. It takes a Russian tanker carrying 40,000 tonnes of diesel about three weeks to reach US terminals So by the time the ship arrives in the US, the Americans will have exported more than 4 million tonnes of their own fuel. That's 100 times more than the Russian tanker will deliver, as Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Ukraine's Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, aptly points out. And the tanker's entire cargo would be enough to cover just two hours of diesel consumption in the US. Now that's what I call a deal!
🚨 BREAKING: Russia to send its first tanker carrying diesel fuel to the US as early as tomorrow Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced the shipment.
