To any lib I’m arguing with about why I will not support Newsom: are you really ok with supporting someone who is this openly bloodthirsty against the unhoused? He could take measures to address how unaffordable his whole state is, but he chooses to punch down on the vulnerable.
Sorry but I just absolutely refuse to vote for the guy who made a very public showing of throwing away everything his constituents living on the street own to make big tech freaks in San Francisco happy.

Chuck Schumer refused to endorse Zohran Mamdani for mayor. He also never said anything about Rep Ilhan Omar’s house being raided. Schumer has no place in Democratic Party leadership.

Is Chuck Schumer exciting? No. Does he take risks? Of course not. But do his experience and acumen make him EXACTLY the man democrats need to most effectively wield this unprecedented mandate? Jesus christ, no

Fucking insane how I bring up a decent point and these jackasses block me so I can’t rebut their dumbass talking points
Replying to @Shartapus
He’s an empty suit for corporate interests and left a lot of winnable races on the table, namely Florida. We need a strong charismatic leader and Schumer is about as far from that as you can get.

it is a coordinated media effort. every major outlet is crediting schumer and jeffries for the victories. people protested and begged them to fight back for the last two years. the party bosses didn’t listen. remember the shutdown? they are the only two politicians less popular than trump atm

The amount of pro-establishment democrat revisionism I've been seeing over the past 24 hours almost feels like a psy-op. Chuck Schumer endorsed two (2) candidates: One, Janet Mills, lost that Maine primary you point out. The other, Haley Stevens, lost and endorsed a republican.
Schumer flipped literally every seat that was actually difficult. Leftists flipped...Maine, a blue state, in the biggest blue wave of my lifetime. Schumer won Mississippi, Iowa, and probably Alaska. Leftists won zero elections that anyone with a pulse and a D next to their name wouldn't have taken down

🔵 News - James Talarico's 4.4 million early votes alone beat Ken Paxton's 4.25 million total votes, so the Texas Senate race was over before Election Day

Every ICE pig that’s murdered an American citizen needs to get hauled before the committee. We need to build the case for abolishing ICE and returning immigration enforcement to local police that are accountable to their communities.
It’s time for ICE to take the masks off, turn the body cameras on, and start answering to the American people who pay for their bloated budget.

people are going to spend the next century writing about how to prevent future backslides in democracy, but I'm calling it now, the answer is: - cheap housing - pretty much everyone can read at a high school level - rich dipshits go to jail when they do crimes

I know this is a shitpost but this might actually work ngl
I have a plan to get Medicare for All passed. 1. Pass in House and Senate 2. Send Abdul to the Oval Office to meet with Trump 3. Trump examines his body and his ass and his biceps and falls completely in love with him 4. Abdul tells Trump if he signs the bill we can call it Trumpcare. Like Obamacare but better and he can take the credit for it. Statues built in his honor 5. Trump says okeyy Abdool I’ll do it hehe

We REALLY need to push that the only reason Angie Nixon didn’t win is because she didn’t receive support from the Democratic Party. Chuck Schumer is responsible for the loss of a critical seat. He doesn’t deserve to be the speaker if he willingly gives up those positions.

Haven't seen a single person say it but the one lesson to be learned is how disastrously unpopular Kamala Harris was in 2024.

If FL republicans don’t take how close Angie and Jolly got as a warning, Blorida WILL happen in 2028.
By 2029, more than 70% of homesteaded properties in some Florida communities could be fully exempt from non-school property taxes under Amendment 3. That creates an enormous challenge for funding police, fire, EMS, roads, and basic local government services. One option I could see the Legislature exploring is a minimum per-parcel services tax, ensuring every property contributes something toward essential services, regardless of its taxable value. A minimum tax for general government services is legally different from a special assessment tied to a specific property benefit. Whether Florida can authorize one by statute or needs a constitutional amendment is a question worth answering now. Florida may be creating a system where most homeowners in some communities pay nothing in non-school property taxes but still expect the same level of services. Amendment 3 settled the tax cut. It didn’t settle who pays for local government.
