"Souvenir of the 'Royal Tour,' 1901", a Raphael Tuck & Sons postcard showing the route of the gruelling tour by the future George V and Queen Mary. This included a tour of the newly created Commonwealth of Australia as well as a jaunt across Canada and back.

I came across this little gem when looking for something completely different. It's of London's Tramway Subway at the Embankment. Knowing it was posted in 1912 gives a good suggestion of date. Now, what was I looking for...?! #Postcard #Genealogy

At this evening's talk, someone brought the attached postcard along for me to look at. Anyone able to decipher the message?

A lovely postcard of Marie Studholme with glitter but why was it labelled Contrary to regulations? Perhaps because Fred wrote Rotherhithe E instead of SE?

Not an unusual #postcard but an indication perhaps of why so many cards survive today. It’s 1905 and people are already collecting. A nice stamp tilt here too, so maybe the card was a gift and an excuse to get in touch.

#OnThisDay 1841, Louis Le Prince was born. Louis Le Prince was arguably the first person to shoot a moving picture sequence with a single lens camera. This film is 'Leeds Bridge', shot by Le Prince with his Single-lens Cine Camera in 1888.

Royal Mail post boxes are a cherished feature of our communities. If anyone has any information that can help identify the offenders, please call the Police on 101 or @CrimestoppersUK #HeritageWatch
Spate of theft of rural post boxes across Bedfordshire villages in the last week. Older&rarer types of box are taken for their cultural&resale value to collectors. This form of theft deprives a community of an important cultural and amenity resource @HistoricEngland @RoyalMail
