This. @USFigureSkating this is not how you make change.
This US Figure Skating hire is so incredibly frustrating and disappointing to see. As an organization that promised to make change surrounding a culture of grooming and abuse, this feels like a careless step backwards, disregarding the truth and experiences of survivors.

What is up with the sudden disappearance of shopping baskets from grocery stores? Big Y, Stop & Shop… It’s gross. I don’t want to fill or navigate a giant cart. I want to pick up a few items and move around the store easily.
Stories like this are why I love Twitter.

1. I don’t expect much from the Saudi government when it comes to human rights. But there is a horrific violation of human rights that I want to bring attention to. This is Salma al-Shehab and she's just been sentenced to 34 years in prison for tweeting and retweeting.

White people—especially white women—need to start practicing NOT talking to police. They are not being friendly when they pull you over. They are trying to glean information and find foundation upon which to arrest you. “Am I being detained or am I free to go?” Practice it.

So the @New Yorker has fired me, effective immediately. I’m speaking with the union about potentially filing a grievance on the termination. But here are some things that I will say….

Today is the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the reason Pride is in June. In 1969, it was illegal to wear clothes that were considered inappropriate for one's sex and when the police raided the Stonewall Inn's gay bar, they started to do a genital check (as was procedure).

Many have rightfully pointed out that poor and working class women of color and trans people who can become pregnant will be the most impacted by the criminalization of abortion.

Cis people: I need you to understand (and help others understand) that “the trans debate” is NOT relevant “to only a small number of people” but to everyone. Thread below for why: (This is focused on cis women, but cis dudes I need you to listen too. You are also in danger.)

The Justice Department is closing its review of two former FBI agents who botched the investigation into Larry Nassar, the doctor who sexually assaulted dozens of girls and women, including some of the nation's most prominent gymnasts. n.pr/3NIcNU9

"Mental illness" isn't to blame for our mass shooting crisis. Why do I know this? Because America doesn't have any more mental illness than other countries. What differentiates us is an ease to access to the killing machines that make mass shootings possible.
