If the mandate provided by a referendum is eternal and can't be questioned without "betraying democracy", why then was the 1975 referendum on joining the EEC not the final word on that front? And if the answer is, "We didn't get what was promised", the same applies to 2016.

Letβs be honest: Brexit isnβt working.
British exporters are struggling, our living standards are falling and the UK is now the only G7 country with a smaller economy than before the pandemic.
Unless we face up to the harm Brexit is causing we can't start to address it.

The worst thing you could say about Brexit now? βWe need to move onβ. The Eurosceptics didnβt move on after 1975 and neither should pro-Europeans now. If something is right, itβs worth arguing for, whatever the taboo around the subject.

If Brexit had been a good idea, you would have been able to tell by now. You would see telltale signs of its success, regardless of Covid, or Ukraine, or whatever Remainers and/or the EU did or didnβt do. That you canβt tells you that Brexit has failed.

So the Conservatives go back to the same 8,000 people and ask them for another go at who they think should be PM, is that right? This democracy thing is a lark. First they run away from Europe, then make everyone poor, and then they choose another PM. Terrific isn't it.
