The fastest way to show you're not ready for more responsibility is to act like you're above the responsibility you already have.
Everybody wants the big moment.
Not everybody wants the work, sacrifice, and discipline that come before it.
You don't earn bigger opportunities by overlooking smaller responsibilities.
Great points Long season deters a lot of kids. Most don’t get opportunities to improve in off season. Experienced the softball parent preferring their kid do more summer softball so they “the parent” get more weekend social cold Fresca time at ball fields.

Seriously, these are the weeks kids remember. Enjoy the costumes, the laughter, the excitement, and all those wonderfully ridiculous moments that make teaching special.
