This $25 discussion is so dumb. Yall are grown ass adults. Either cook something or give money to someone else do it. Only folks that eat for free are kids. Yall are ridiculous being 25+ complaining about helping

so let me get this straightโ€ฆyall donโ€™t want to be the ones to host thanksgiving. you think if the host canโ€™t financially plan it by themselves, they shouldnโ€™t host either. you donโ€™t want to contribute financially. you canโ€™t cook, so you donโ€™t contribute with a full dish. huh???

โ€œGrowing up I donโ€™t remember us having to give money for Thanksgivingโ€ฆ..โ€ Well duh you were a child. It was none of your business or concern who paid for what. Yโ€™all donโ€™t know what the adults were discussing or paying for. You just showed up as a child should.

I know Thanksgiving dinners are expensive because I threw a BBQ over the summer and that was like $2500 for food and alcohol. Pitch in and help yall family with Thanksgiving dinner, stop being a moocher and a cheapskate.

my family doesnโ€™t charge people but I wouldnโ€™t turn my nose up at someone who did

itโ€™s a lot of work and $25 is a drop in the bucket

some of my cousins in their 40s did literally nothing but show up and have never contributed a single dish

I made four dishes for one thanksgiving and two dishes for another (my parentsโ€™ families have separate thanksgivings and I attend each) last year and other than the hosts I was the only one to make any food I am 25 years old and my family ranges in age from teenagers to 80yos

Iโ€™m not mad at it๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ I think everyone should contribute in some way, even if not financial. Hosting is A LOT. And many traditions die because the onus falls on one or a few. cc: family reunions
Why is my family charging $25 per person for Thanksgiving this year

Imagine being the friend whoโ€™s probably attended the bachelorette, bridal shower, wedding, baby shower & paid money for outfits, travel and gifts. Look at the appreciation that she gets. I would absolutely block you if I was the friend and saw this. Village my ass!
My friend wants to plan a couples, no-kids weekend getaway, splitting the cost of a large AirBNB, in January for her 30th birthday. I really do not love this idea (husband is mortified), neither to spend the money nor to get someone to take the toddler for 3 days. It would be a 2.5 hour drive away for us, too, so itโ€™s not like weโ€™re close if something happens. I havenโ€™t been away from him for even 1 night yet and he still just seems so young! It would be very hard to leave him for that long. Am I just a party pooper who needs to get over it? Genuine question. Like I actually need advice here guys

You can tell by people remarks on Thanksgivingโ€ฆ 1. Theyโ€™ve never hosted anything. 2. Never planned anything. 3. Doesnโ€™t grocery shop or shop for large gatherings. 4. Canโ€™t cook or doesnโ€™t cook. They just show up.

the anti party people think theyโ€™re being noble and selfless but really they hate that the party is still happening without them, thatโ€™s why the consensus is becoming โ€œwell itโ€™s bad to care about your birthday anyway!โ€, people want to decline your invite and not feel FOMO

This has proven why so many families no longer have reunions. The โ€œnew adultsโ€ ainโ€™t about shit! In their 30s baffled that theyโ€™re being asked to contribute for the holidays. If youโ€™re not bringing a pan of food, $20 is the least you can do. Mac and cheese costs $40 to make.

And I know I just didnโ€™t read, โ€œIโ€™ll just stay home on Thanksgiving and eat pizza before I give my fam money.โ€ So Papa Johnโ€™s can get $20 out of you but your auntie who about to pick greens for 2 days canโ€™t?
