The short pang past,
In sleep, in death, in dreamless sleep locked fast.

The prayers, the mute appeal to her hard sire,
Her youth, her virgin beauty,
Naught heeded they, the chiefs for war on fire.

At a shrine, a lamp lit,
and a countenance of peace..
a blessing that waits,in the deity
for a worshiper at dawn.
Extinguished to soot
the stoned ceiling to contain heavens
for ages it has writ of light,
selflessly in the night, without a memory,
when God was alone ..

Sappho’s words are still being dug up out of the garbage pits her scrolls were thrown into.
I keep reading posts saying that there is no market in books for female voices over 40
Not only is this baffling (women over 40 make up a huge readership) but surely it’s another example of women being made invisible after a certain age. We see it in film and TV and now in books
Why are we letting this happen?

Kitten Panic
So my son goes to bed crying because Lulu was "missing" for 2 hours. I was convinced she found a hiding spot but they begged me to try to find her. So here I am going around the house, opening every drawer, and even going outside and asking the neighbors. (Missing my football game.)
I gave up at 10:10 pm and told my wife I think she's gone.
Literally right then this little booger just casually walks up to us.

When I have pluck’d the rose,
I cannot give it vital growth again.
It must needs wither: I’ll smell it on the tree.
Ah balmy breath, that dost almost persuade
Justice to break her sword! One more, one more.

The raven yelled from above, dark and greedy for carrion. The troop was on the march. The horn-bearers ran, the heralds called out, the horse trod the earth.
