Artists, not everyone that is rolling with you and figuring the settings out with you, is for you. Learn the essentials of being involved not just the studio. Read more. Be present. To fail is beautiful. It's the only way. You have no other choice but to learn and grow.

My name is Naike.
I am 15 years old.
I have written this poem to tell my story, and that of so many others, the second generation of genocide survivors.
I tell my story to inform you, to tell the world that we survived the unthinkable, to teach and remind you of the consequences of the Genocide against the Tutsi, and its horror.
I tell my story with the hope that this will never happen again.
Dear survivors,
Dear parents,
Dear Rwandans,
If there’s one thing you can keep from my message, it’s that my generation and I, we have learnt, and we are proud of who we are: Rwandans, who will always hold your hand.
We will strive for the everlasting peace, prosperity, and hope of life in Rwanda.
We will always remember what happened during the Genocide against the Tutsi.
We’re going to write.
We’re going to remember.
We’re going to make changes.
Humura, Rwanda rwacu.
Ntabwo bizongera.
Tuzibuka kandi tuzakubaka.

"There's no way the 'International Community' doesn't know who the FDLR are. Since 2003, there have been more than 20 @UN Security Council resolutions about the FDLR.
...We're NOT going to be blackmailed into compromising our national security with a threat of sanctions. If we didn't have the security posture that we have, this country would collapse." ~Spokesperson @RwandaGov 🇷🇼

As we close the official week of commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, we continue to carry the weight of the memory of 100 days of unimaginable darkness in Rwanda.
Choose truth. Stay in light. Ibuka🕯️

During the panel discussion on Confronting Genocide Ideology: Bridging Scholarship and Grassroots Action - @Inkotanyi_C, Co-founder and Executive Director of Our Past Initiative, urged the youth to stand firm against genocide denial:
“Use the factual information that’s been collected about the 100 days of the genocide, then go out there and be the ambassadors who will end this last stage—denial.”
“Don’t let genocide deniers make you look like a fool. Educate yourself and speak the truth.”

😢💔In every tear shed at Nyanza, there is a name remembered, a life brutally taken, and a silence once imposed. But today, survivors stand, not just in mourning, but in truth. We remember. We speak. We carry the weight of memory with dignity. #Kwibuka31

Such a small world we live in. I am the first grandchild of Muhiza. Regine, my mum is the oldest daughter and on this picture, are her baby sisters and baby brother. They were killed with my sister Jessica and that day i happened to had gone with my grandma to look for food.
Remembering my neighbors and childhood friends
In this photo, Cyicyi places his hand on Poussette’s head. Diane Uwera stands behind Emery. These four siblings from the Muhiza family in Gatagara were all killed and thrown into their family’s latrine during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
I am grateful to Charlotte, their eldest sister who survived and now lives in the USA, for sharing this precious photo as she knows how I am connected to them.
After my family survived the Bagogwe massacre in 1992, we relocated to Gatagara, in Nyanza District where we became close neighbors with the Muhiza family. I attended the same primary school as Cyicyi and Diane
, we walked to and from school together. Like many children, they enjoyed teasing me and starting conversations just to hear me speak, amused by my northern Kinyarwanda accent.
Every word I said made them laugh. They would even joke that I wasn’t Rwandan, calling me “Mukiga.”
Even as children, Cyicyi and Uwera were curious. They used to ask me what the Interahamwe looked like, as Gatagara was then dominated by opposition parties like PL, PSD, and MDR, before the rise of the extremist faction.
Just days later, Cyicyi, Uwera, Poussette, and Emery would witness the unimaginable cruelty of the Interahamwe as former members of PL and MDR had transformed into “pawa,” indistinguishable from the Interahamwe and CDR members.
Muhiza, an entrepreneur originally from Gikongoro, was married to two sisters. Together with his two wives and their seven children, he was brutally murdered during the genocide.
We will always remember your faces.
