PSA for macOS users:
1. Apple’s supplied SSL certificate bundle at /etc/ssl/cert.pem still trusts certificates attackers can forge using compromised eMudhra keys.
2. I confirmed this on macOS 26.7.1 and 27.0.1 using Apple’s built-in curl and Git.
3. An attacker intercepting connections from tools using this bundle could replace downloads with malware. With commands like curl … | sh, that malware would execute immediately.
4. Removing the roots that authorize those certificates blocks the tested chains. Both OS updates restored roots I’d previously removed, requiring me to remove them again.
4. I’ve submitted the findings to Apple’s security team and am awaiting their response. In the meantime, you can apply a temporary fix as outlined below.
5. To check and fix your machine, give an agent like ChatGPT/Codex or Claude Code the following prompt:
“Independently verify whether Apple’s /etc/ssl/cert.pem still permits trust in certificates signed with compromised eMudhra keys. If so, back it up and remove the roots enabling that trust, identified by verified SPKI fingerprints. Confirm Apple’s built-in curl and Git reject those chains while ordinary HTTPS still works. Preserve rollback and never disable TLS verification.”
Note that removing these roots can also block legitimate sites. This is a temporary mitigation, not a substitute for a fix from Apple.
I’ll share the script I used in a follow-up post if you’d prefer to use that directly.
PSA for Codex CLI users:
1. Codex 0.163.0’s release lockfile pins rustls-webpki 0.103.15 and root bundles that can still trust compromised eMudhra certificates.
2. An attacker intercepting your connection could impersonate a server, steal sensitive data, or alter responses, potentially tricking Codex into running malicious commands.
3. Codex 0.164.0, released October 23 at 12:48 a.m. ET, updates those dependencies to fixed versions.
4. To check your codex version run "codex --version". It should be at least 0.164.0.
5. To patch the vulnerability, run "codex update".
6. Apps that bundle their own Codex copy must also be checked.

🔥🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Trump’s White House is considering MASS PREEMPTIVE PARDONS for junior staff involved in deportations, war, and trade policy, potentially shielding thousands of officials from federal prosecution, according to The Washington Sun. But there’s a catch Trump may not like: Once pardoned, those officials could lose their Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination for the covered offenses, allowing Congress to compel testimony.

I'm not talking about a ban, but can we think about ways to structure contest scoring to incentivize operation in situ? If I work a Caribbean station, I want to picture palm trees and the operator sipping a rum punch, not someone in Schaumburg, Illinois on their computer.

These kids accepted The 50 Yard Challenge — and completed it by mowing 50 free lawns in their community for the elderly, disabled, single parents, first responders and veterans. They earned brand new mowers, weed eaters & blowers.
What’s stopping your kids from doing the same?
Our 50 Yard Challenge is open year-round for boys and girls nationwide. Along with mowing, kids also help by raking leaves, shoveling snow, and picking up litter in their neighborhoods — proving that kindness has no season.
We have 6,000+ kids across the U.S. and in 8 other countries that signed up since 2016 making a difference — one yard at a time.
Will your kids be next to accept the challenge?

Roman is now fully functional.
NASA says the telescope has entered its final phase before science, called science commissioning.
Senior project scientist Julie McEnery put it simply.
It can guide, take exposures, move data and slew between targets.
Now the team is chasing the fine details of image quality.
What is already done:
• All 18 Wide Field Instrument detectors checked out
• The telescope focused into its best position
• Optics error of just 63 nanometers RMS, against a 90 nanometer requirement
• Performance nearly 30 percent better than predicted
63 nanometers is about a thousand times thinner than a human hair.
One worry also went away.
The team feared guidance might struggle in crowded star fields and dusty nebulae.
Test observations showed Roman handles them well.
The coronagraph is still calibrating its deformable mirrors before a light blocking demo in the coming weeks.
The Wide Field Instrument covers a field about 100 times larger than Hubble's main camera.
First science images are expected by early 2027.
The checks are almost over.
The universe is next.

Phoenix signed up for our 50 yard challenge in 2020 and completed it the same year . It actually took him a few weeks during the summer .Will your child be next to accept the 50 yard challenge ? They can do it in a summer or over 5/6 summers . There is no time limit on the challenge .
Our 50 yard challenge is year round . In addition to mowing lawns, we also include raking leaves and shoveling snow. It’s a year-round chance for your child to give back to the community. If you have a child aged 8-17, encourage them to sign up!
This unique opportunity allows kids to step up and make a real difference in their communities. By signing up, your child will embark on a journey starting with a white shirt, tasked with mowing, raking leaves & snow shoveling for the elderly, disabled, single parents, and veterans—all free of charge.
As they progress through their 50-yard mission, they’ll earn new colored shirts for every set of 10 lawns cared for—orange, green, blue, red, and ultimately, black. Completing all 50 lawns earns them not just the black shirt but also brand-new lawn care equipment (mower, weed eater & blower) ! It’s a rewarding challenge that builds character, skills, and community spirit. So, talk with your child about becoming a part of our program .

Let’s make a difference, one lawn at a time!
I called to cancel my health insurance because I couldn't afford the premium anymore.
The rep asked why I wanted to cancel.
I told her I'm paying $685 a month for a family plan with a $9,000 deductible.
That's $8,220 a year before I've even paid for a single doctor's visit, prescription, or emergency room bill.
So if someone in my family gets seriously sick, I'm still looking at thousands of dollars in medical expenses on top of the premiums I've already been paying all year.
I asked her what exactly I'm supposed to do with a plan like that.
She explained that the policy was designed to help cover eligible medical expenses after I met my deductible.
I told her I understood how insurance works. What I don't understand is how a family can pay more than $8,000 a year for coverage and still be terrified of getting sick.
She didn't have an answer.
WE'VE CREATED A HEALTHCARE SYSTEM WHERE PEOPLE ARE PAYING THOUSANDS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM MEDICAL BILLS THEY STILL CAN'T AFFORD.

What do these 6 kids have in common? They all completed our 50 Yard Challenge by mowing 50 FREE lawns in their cities for the elderly, disabled, single parents, and veterans. For every 10 lawns, they earned a new colored T-shirt, and once they reached 50, they received their black shirt—just like a black belt in karate—along with brand-new mowers, weed eaters, and blowers.
Will your child be next to take on the 50 Yard Challenge? Kids can participate from any city, any state—even internationally. We currently have kids in 8 different countries. Raking leaves and shoveling snow also count toward the challenge.
Kids in photo are from previous years .
