I keep telling my brother he needs to go abroad in order to get the career and recognition he wants, but he refuses to listen. He allows these whites to gaslight him into thinking he's the problem despite me consistently explaining that they're gatekeeping their mediocrity.

So I heard NYPD put an official email out on all cops work phone about me😂with my name and picture 💀💀. Yea warn ya peoples. There’s a new sheriff in town.
Yup. Every time colorism is talked about people reduce being black down to being desired by others or not. And often they talking about females as the most marginalized. But it has impacts on men that are just as consequential, even more so, outside of who finds you attractive.

these studies are why i don’t have certain arguments with folks on social media. all it takes is a sentence or two for me to identify that you have no idea what you’re talking about bc you didn’t do the research
"A 2006 University of Georgia study showed that employers prefer light-skinned Black men to dark-skinned men, regardless of their qualifications. The study found that a light-skinned Black male with a Bachelor’s degree and typical work experience was preferred over a dark-skinned Black male with an MBA and past managerial positions (Starr, 2011)."
but let these dummies tell it discussions on colourism is desirability politics

For a black man, they often don’t go hand in hand. And it’s systematic. The first thing you gotta do when getting some real money is negotiate your soul as a black man…
“There is a leadership advantage for black male leaders who appear more docile in physical appearance,” Livingston says. He calls this advantage the “Teddy Bear Effect.”
Makes sense to me. Black men are seen as threats and the world doesn’t want them to be assertive and confident leaders. If you choose to do that, you pay for it in opportunities.

That never surprised. It is a superficial country.
The Teddy Bear effect where preference for round faces among Black men in white firms is something that I’ve both observed and still strikes me as odd.

Cesar & Sanders doing marketing for Anthropic & OpenAI by assuming a fictional machine god is imminent. Unsurprising since they’re “advised” by the Future of Life Institute cofounded by lead investor of Anthropic, & MIRI, the eugenicist rationalist cult *shudder*
From my op-Ed

ALT The California governor, Gavin Newsom, issued a mandate to create an “AI kill-switch”; New York’s governor, Kathy Hochul, is similarly exploring the possibility of having “AI kill-switches”; and Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Greg Casar introduced legislation to “ban artificial superintelligence”. While so many of us were focused on fictional superintelligent machines that we were told could hypothetically cause human extinction, however, there was a more serious story being reported. A series of events almost got us to armageddon, not caused by “rogue, superintelligent AI”, but by government reliance on error-prone systems that are marketed by their manufacturers as being close to superintelligent.
Sometimes I can just read the book description and can tell an American didn’t write it. Americans all think the same and they can’t ask certain questions without being silenced. In my opinion, this is why there’s much more interesting work produced outside of America than in it.
It’s not joke. This is a scholarly argument that’s almost 20 years old. It has been argued that black men’s greater targeting by the state is actual male privilege based on visibility and that those who aren’t neutralized by the state in a similar fashion (black women and queer people) are still more oppressed because of their relative invisibility.
I know white guys who was in my unit who got out and they first job was managerial positions. They went from an NCO to another leadership position. And I know dark green marines who dead or just got out of fucking prison…
