As it did mine. I hope everyone in software finds an open source project that gives such immense satisfaction personally and professionally. Happy birthday #plone!

If you are afraid of becoming a manager, I highly recommend Emily's podcast manager.flow (and book when it drops). She is truly talented, creative, and empathetic to the fun and misery of being a manager of hyper smart people.

No need to tear anything down that's put it proper context. That statue should have been in a museum. Put up contextual information rather than letting them stand unquestioned. – at Leeds, England

Fuck yeah space. So exciting and much needed right now. Much love for SpaceX & NASA.

One long term effect of being a manager is that you learn what is appropriate when and with whom and edit yourself. This sucks sometimes. I just wrote a neighborhood email about SWAPPING KEYS and couldn't bring myself to leave in all the gifs/jokes about key parties.

I tried so hard to leave them in and press send. I just had it trained (drained?) out of me. It was the right call and I'm aware of the reprocussions if I had left it in. Ignorance was indeed bliss. Sigh.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit: win for parents and kids and it held up surprisingly well. Watched for the first time as an adult and learned about the GM tram scandal in LA. 3yos impression of Jessica Rabbit? "Wow wow wow she is so pretty!". Some stuff is built in I guess.

ICYMI, the kooks released a new album. It's been my favorite *new* release for covid times because 1) it's the kooks 2) I don't know about that Fiona Apple stuff man... 3)perfect for loud listening in the car, stretching out that grocery fetching, kid free time

It's also one of the few bands I've never never had the chance to see live. I've also never seen Artic Monkeys - the shame!

Lego Masters is like GBBO but hosted by Will Arnett. Well, the same in the sense that we get a huge amount of satisfaction by giving everyone terribly mean nick names and railing on them all season. It helps balance all the love and support in the show itself. 2 thumbs up.

In the quest to find movies that both the adults and children like, we watched "Babe: pig in the city". Pretty sure all of us are having nightmares tonight.
One of the more unsettling parts of shelter in place: watching cut scenes from my husbands game of final fantasy. The mental switch from corraling kids to watching the "hand job" scene is extensive. Go ahead, try it on. AWKWARDLY SFW. youtu.be/51az0LDdnvE

"For women, getting an extra hour of sleep predicts a 14 percent greater likelihood of having sex the next day." 👈 This article is the best I've seen on this seemingly popular topic so far. Worth the long read and multiple side Google's. theatlantic.com/magazine/arc…

In contrast, The Decadent Society interpretation of this topic is heavy on data but the conclusions feel heavily biased to the authors preconceptions.

I find there is also a very regional aspect to this in the US. When I was first single in SF, it was devastatingly hard. I was the creep that actually wanted to meet people at the bar. Work trips to the Midwest/east coast became a relieving outlet of conversation/fun.
