Stat of the week: 4/6 days so far this season, the Visionary has been from a purple team #thingsthatmatter
The best of yesterday! Jayden Reid was electric in Memphis’ win over VCU. His 32 points were a career high and he hit some clutch shots down the stretch. Barrington Hargress dropped 33 in a loss against SDSU. Patrick Wessler dominated ECU with 24 points and 18 rebounds.

Collins on replacing Nick Martinelli: "We're not going to replace that. So what you have to do is collectively replace that production."

If you read my recent dispatch from @insidenu you'll possibly remember that I said Arkansas is must watch hoops this year with my favorite player in the sport as a true freshman. About that:
Some of these Jordan Smith Jr. defensive sequences are just hilarious.

Good morning. Jake West leads the country in assists. Jack Karasinski is tied for the NCAA lead in 3PM.
The best of yesterday! A daily recap of stat leaders and superlatives. Dior Johnson and Krystian Lewis 40-pieces lead the way.

So funny when athletes sign these long contracts. Oh you’re gonna be playing for the Yankees in 2031? Buddy the fog is gonna consume us in 2027. The fog is coming. The fog is coming. The fog is coming

Wonder where all the GCU money is going...
Grand Canyon spent around $12M on their roster for the 2026-27 season, per @MattNorlander. In the same range of spending: Syracuse, Wisconsin, Iowa State, NC State, Clemson, Nebraska, Georgia, TCU, Minnesota Less than $12M: Purdue, Iowa, Kansas State, Butler, Seton Hall, Florida State, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Utah, Virginia Tech, Washington, Colorado, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, UCF, California, Stanford, Penn State, Boston College, DePaul Wow... 🤯

I’m legitimately gobsmacked that there are people in the Northwestern ecosphere who are souring on Chris Collins. I think it’s truly unbelievable that you can hold that opinion earnestly.

nitter.gq/isaac__trotter/status/… On cue article from two of the best in the biz NU in same tier as RU and PSU at 7-10 mil (makes sense), Purdue (unique) and Iowa (was wrong, I do think BMac is top-15ish in CBB), Only Washington in tier below 5 B1G teams are 15+ mil, 9/18 are 12+ mil
Replying to @eliavbr5 @Casual_NU
How much is NU’s budget compared to like a Minnesota or Iowa?

Of the 22 teams across P5 listed as spending sub-10 mil, only 2 (Purdue and Iowa) are top 50 in Kenpom (approximately the preseason tournament bubble) Only 5 more are inside the top 70, meaning 15/22 fall between 71-114 (BC is last). NU is at 89th

And this tracks on the Iowa front, makes more sense to me that they're in the same tier as NU now

@Casual_NU It's not impossible to win with our money, but you kinda either need that or a top 25 coach which you have about a 1-2% chance of finding in a hiring cycle. And Collins has hit that level before (19th in 22-23 on Basketball Quant going back to my original thread)
