China is making their won version of the MicroDuck called nanoloong

This might be the Chinese Microduck… but there’s a big difference between these two robots.
Meet NanoLoong Bipedal, a 60 cm tall open-source humanoid robot from China, inspired by Pixar’s famous lamp and Disney’s BDX robot.
It uses brushless motors and reinforcement learning to learn how to walk on two legs.
The project shares CAD files, 3D-printable parts, electronics documentation, control software and trained motion policies on GitHub.
Its hardware includes an Odroid C4 computer and an ESP32-S3 for control, with CAN bus communication for the motors.
The developers report a total cost below 15,000 Chinese yuan, roughly $2,000 depending on the exchange rate.
Now compare that with Microduck from French robotics company Pollen Robotics.
Microduck stands just 25 cm tall and weighs around 780 grams. It has 15 motors, a camera, LiDAR and two IMUs. Its software and reinforcement-learning training stack are open source, with a listed preorder price of $399 before taxes and shipping.
Both projects give developers access to robot hardware and software, but they target different sizes and budgets.
What caught my attention with NanoLoong is the combination of brushless motors, 3D-printed parts and learned walking policies in a compact biped.
