Next up in our Pecha Kucha series we've got William Martin from the Universiry of Bradford discussing if we can build effective partnership from a deficit model #RAISE23
We've got a Nottingham back to back here in room 1.08 with Nelson Chong from Nottingham Trent giving us their thoughts on simulation based active collaborative learning #RAISE23
Lore Ayonrinde from Uni of Nottingham sharing their insights into students as change agents #RAISE23
Here with Weiwei and Janet from @warwickuni discussing what belonging means for the Chinese student community #RAISE23
'Silence as a solution'- some Chinese students choose silence so as to not cause trouble rather than using their student voice. We need to create spaces for all students to comfortably provide feedback
'Chinese-speaking students engage through active listening with no interruptions to show politeness in class. But this can be misinterpreted as a lack of contribution by Western students'.
An example of a belonging map produced by students. Interestingly there is lower sense of belonging for Asian students when staying in their comfort zone surrounded by other Asian students. True student mingling is crucial!
To target their audience, the study structure used bespoke incentives inc. Chinese crepes and Bubble Tea- genius! 👏

Lots of food for thought from Connor around developing student skills to enhance sense of belonging, particularly during transition! #RAISE23
RAISE's own Connor Naughton reflecting on their own lived experiences to tell us about Bursaries, Beans, and Bali!? Some mind blowing stats here about current student's money worries #RAISE23
Elaine Alyward and Laura Keane sharing insights into the transition process into HE for students with ASD from South East Technology University. Great to hear from a newly established provider at #RAISE23
12% of students at SETU have ASD, an upwards trend across the sector. Our ASD students have particular challenges during transition to HE e.g. communication, change in routine social norms etc. Investigating our students' experiences is important.
Session 4E originally scheduled for room 3.08 is now in 2.07 #RAISE23
Great thought provoking keynote from Claire and Lizzie about how it's the small human interactions that matter! On my first day of Uni my tutor took our group out for coffee and a chat, so simple but I've never forgotten it. Those are the moments that help us belong! #RAISE23
