The most common thing clients tell us isn’t about design or results. It’s “You explained it in a way I actually understood.” Too many business owners sit through meetings full of acronyms and leave more confused, and more worried, than when they walked in. Confusion isn’t expertise. Often it’s there to stop you asking questions. So we keep one simple rule at Embark: ✅ We say: “We found three things costing you sales. Here’s the plan.” ❌ We don’t say: “We leverage synergistic solutions to optimise your…” Plain words come with plain truths. Sometimes that means telling an owner something they’d rather not hear. We’ll always do it respectfully, and always with their business’s best interests at heart. But we won’t sugar-coat it. Honestly, that isn’t for everyone. Not every owner wants that conversation, and that’s fine. But the ones who do tend to stay with us for a long time. No jargon. No bull. Just what’s next, and how we get there.

The shoppers closest to paying were getting the slowest version of the site. On two client stores, the server took 2.3s to respond once something was in the basket. We switched on cart-aware caching. Now it's 0.08s, basket or not.

When did you last test your own site with something in the basket? Most owners only ever check the empty version.

One client's revenue, up 53% on last year. £237,201 vs £154,696 over the same months. Orders up 45%. Hardly any new products. Strip out everything added since 2025 and it's still up 46%. That's growth from the store working harder, not a bigger shelf.

Your customers aren't searching for your name. They're searching "sds drill bits near me", "dewalt combi drill in stock", "builders merchant open saturday". If your site doesn't answer those, the merchant down the road gets the sale.

"We connect with our customers like never before — and created new revenue streams." Mike Martin, Owner, WBS Builders' Merchants — on the digital and brand overhaul we've run for them.

Customers don't review your website. They review how easy it was to buy. We built the online ordering for WBS Builders' Merchants. Their Google reviews: "Placed an order online and was delivered the next day." "Easy to order online and ready to collect within an hour."

How We Solved a Complex 4-Tonne Logistics Puzzle in @WooCommerce 🚚👇 Major building supply websites make ordering loose aggregates a pain—or simply don't offer them online at all. We set out to change that, creating a bespoke, high-speed ordering experience tailored specifically for trade builders and DIYers. The Challenge: 🎯 Delivery trucks have a strict 4-tonne weight limit and a maximum capacity of 2 material types per run. 🎯 We needed to let B2B trade customers mix and match loose materials freely without exceeding physical truck caps. 🎯 We had to avoid creating duplicate products to protect catalog reporting and stock inventory tracking. The Solution: ✅ Smart UI: Built a custom interface that dynamically locks total quantities at 4 items, caps distinct product selections at 2 types, and locks UI controls in real time. ✅ Zero Catalogue Bloat: Integrated existing variable products by filtering specifically for the 1,000kg loose variation—keeping inventory and sales reporting 100% clean and accurate. ✅ Automated Logistics at Checkout: Configured cart logic to automatically handle multiple 4-tonne bundles—calculating multi-stop shipping fees seamlessly. ✅ Frictionless B2B UX: Implemented interactive row clicking, automated post-add-to-cart form resets for fast repeat ordering, and featured the tool directly in the primary mega menu. The Result: 🎉 A seamless, intuitive experience for trade buyers, automated shipping accuracy for the client's fleet, and a huge SEO and commercial advantage over national competitors who don't offer an online loose aggregate builder. #WooCommerce #Woo #WordPress #WebDevelopment #B2BEcommerce #UXDesign #BuildingSupplies #Logistics #BuildersMerchants

"You'll lose everything if you leave Shopify." We moved a client's store to WooCommerce last month. Checkout: 1.6 seconds, start to confirmation. Cart pages: 0.08s, served from the edge. 2,137 orders of history carried across, back to 2021. Organic search: steady, through a platform AND a domain change. Woo isn't the compromise. It's the upgrade.

The speed isn't Woo vs Shopify — it's what you're allowed to do to the stack. Own the hosting, cache at the edge, strip the plugins you don't need. You can't do that on someone else's platform.

A year with your agency. Name one thing it earned you. Not "a new website". Not "12 reports". A number. Most people can't. That's not a marketing problem, it's an accountability problem — and the industry made it optional.

Ranking #1 on Google used to earn 28% of clicks. It now earns 19%. Position 2 went from 20.8% to 12.6%. Nobody dropped a place. The clicks just stopped existing. AI Overviews ate them — and they show on about a third of all searches now. "Get us to page 1" is a 2019 brief.

Your website isn't a brochure. It's a revenue system. Treat it as "set it and forget it" and you'll be back in 2 years asking why it isn't working. Treat it as a living system - ongoing SEO, content, conversion work - and it compounds. It isn't done when it launches. That's the start.

Most sites don't fail at launch. They fail at month 14, quietly, and nobody's watching.
